Your Recommendation For Video Editing Software

Sat Aug 28, 2010 10:37 pm

Hi all,

I am hoping to get some advice from you for a video editing software.

What I want to do is very simple. When flying I usually record several smaller video clips with my pocket camera or SLR which I want to paste together to a larger file.

From a previous search, I have found nothing so far which will simply paste the files together - without changing the compression, resolution and file extension.

If anyone knows some software to perform this simple task, I would be glad to find out.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Regards,
Loran

Hi Loran.

Well for free software iMovie in MAC world or Windows Live Movie Maker for your Windows platform should do all you need of them.

If you want to do nothing else than mergeing several avi files into one, VirtualDub should help you. It's a free program that runs without installation.

You can find a brief tutorial here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/virtualdub_join_avi.cfm

A download link for the program can be found at the top of the tutorial. HTH.

Hi Jid and ZakHH,

Thanks for your recommendations.

The virtualdub tool looks like it does what I want. Unfortunately the Windows Movie Maker will convert the files to wmf IIRC.

I will only be able to try it next week but post my experiences here.

Thanks again,
Loran
