70-200mm F/4L Is Long Enough For LAX?

Thu Oct 14, 2010 8:18 am

I'm interested in spotting at LAX and I was wondering if if anyone knows if the 70-200mm is long enough for spotting at LAX, especially around the Imperial Hill area. Or would I need something longer like the 100-400 4.5-5.6L?

Thanks in advance.

The longer the better for Imperial Hill except on those rare days when traffic is Eastward in which case 200mm is adequate. The shorter lens is OK for In'n'Out and Proud Bird.

I find my 70-200F2.8L with 1.4x on a full frame camera is fine for large 747/340/777 etc. For the smaller stuff at Imperial i always use my 100-400 on a 1.6x body.
