A Few Photos From The QF 90th Event

Sat Nov 06, 2010 7:40 am

These are just a few of my photos. I'm shpwing them here to share with you a bit of the festive nature of the Qantas 90th anniversary celebrations and give some of you a perspective you might not have seen before:

B707-138B and the famous people:

The boss and JT:

Boss getting a grilling from the media:

It was almost embarrassing listening to the questions from the media regarding the A380 and the B747-438 incident.   I was speaking quietly to a QF ground engineer and I made it clear that I'm only a photographer, not one of those journos.

And what can be said for John Travolta? The man is a legend - absolutely a legend. Hardly surpising he exits that lovely plane with such a huge smile! And by bringing the beautiful plane along, he makes everyone else happy too.

He's genuinely friendly and makes it plainly obvious that he loves getting about and doing this kind of promotional work.

Brilliant imagery indeed! JT certainly seems very engaged with his flying and with QFA. What a top bloke!

Great shots!!
I didn't get access in front of the barriers, I got a few shots from the other side of N707JT taxiing in and parked... Unfortunately way out of view of JT actually exiting the aircraft.

Great shots. You got lucky with the weather. I was there at 9 and it was bucketing down, so no good photos for me.

Cheers

Chris;

Congratulations on the great shots of this truly lovely legendary "old bird"; ( the 707, not J.T. )
It's nice to see him getting such a "warm welcome" , from all our friends, "down under". And yes, good old J.T. is a "legend of sorts" ; my fiance' has "Saturday Night Fever" on her iPod, and i have probably seen J.T. "doing his thing" in it at least 975 times by now, and he has certainly entertained all of us with his many great "flicks" for years now; BUT.........unfortunately, just like so very many of his "Hollywood" crowd.............old J.T. has a "dark side" !

He is far better known in the U.S. for his completely "wacko" life-style, and his even more "wacko" views on Scientology.
At the moment, here in the U.S., most of the "talk" in the media about J.T. refers to his wife, who is expected to go into labor at any moment now, while good old J.T. is off globe-hopping around the southern hemisphere, in his big old 707.
Stupidity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result; Albert Einstein

That's getting a bit off topic for this message. This is about Qantas, the 707 and the 90th anniversary and photos, not really about religion.

I know - I'm so bored of photographing MD-11, 777, A330, A380 and 747. My first photo of the ones above was accepted into a.net, but to be honest - it's my least favourite. I prefer the one with JT getting ready to walk down the stairs, but that is not acceptable for here.
