Isap - Las Vegas?

Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:55 am

Noticed the ISAP event in Las Vegas in March listed by Nikon as an event that will feature onsite Nikon service/support.

Anyone from here going?

Hi Chris
Ryan and I attended last year and where totally disappointed with the entire experience.
Disorganized despite hard work by some excellent individuals like Larry etc.
The Nellis visit was a debacle..carried like 40KG of gear half way round the world to get on the side of the runway only to find that the runway spots where extremely limited and surprisingly the serious guys where it seems mostly excluded.
Met some great people but as an event ive been to better organized BBQ's..
Having flown 15 hours driven for 6 we got better photos doing our own thing and given more notice could of obtained better access to Nellis and Redflag by our own means and it would of been 1000% better organized.
The conference itself had in general pretty uninteresting discussions except for one or two presentations.
In general had an awesome time in Vegas and Nellis got sick photos met some cool people but the ISAP itself was a massive letdown..

PS You coming to Avalon?

Yes, I'd like to and I can make time for it - but only if I'm not stuck in the stands.I don't have the necessary contacts to get in as media for Avalon. I can't imagine being popular using a D3S and a 200-400mm in a big crowd.

Hmm, that doesn't sound so good. Still - it might be worth it - and I'm not going to be packing 40kg of camera gear. (only 4 cases, and I only need 3 of those).

Just pack a P&S, you'll be all set

I met Darren at ISAP, and ended up shooting next to him & Ryan during the Nellis base visit.
I would back up what Darren has posted above.

How are you Mark?
The highlight for me was meeting a lot of people i'd only ever exchanged with over the net and from that perspective it was worthwhile.
I found it pretty interesting that only a few guys where interested in shooting literally a hundred recovering aircraft on the Friday while the remainder where more interested in eating than aircraft.
Never could and still dont understand that one.
