Phuket Spotting Spots?

Sat Feb 05, 2011 12:08 am

I've seen to amazing pictures taken from the beach at the runway end in HKT, yet I have to ask, how do you get to that particular location? Can anyone please help?

Thanks

You are probably referring to Thanat W's pictures, but I think he must have ramp access.

Gary Stegmeier must have been at the beach just south of Rwy 09.

The Google satellite view is very clear and I think you can pinpoint the crash gate where he has been standing.

I know this is off topic, but always gives me a chuckle.

The beach is Nai Yang and all you do is jump in a taxi/Tuk Tuk and ask. The drivers nearly always wait, mine have, for several hours. I think they earn more with my fare back to Patong than driving locally?
Word of warning, wear shoes on the beach, there's broken bottles all over the place. And take plenty to drink! It's very hot!!

Where will you be staying Lee? Taxis are very cheap but I was just curious.

I just replied to email Lee, the crash gate from where the Thai A300 was taken backs onto the beach, there is a Bhuddist temple nearby which can be seen on Panoramio pictures in Google Earth. The light at that spot is best in the afternoons.
