Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:45 pm

This subject may have been covered before but I missed it. I am planning a trip later inn the year to St. Maarten. I will be there for a week. I cannot go to the beach & bar everyday but can someone advise me if there are any particular days of the week that are better than others for spotting and photograohy?

Any day is fantastic at SXM.

Weekends might be a bit busier, but anyday is cool.
Wednesdays were good when I was there the last time.

Enjoy it!

It really depends what time of year you go. From the times i've been there saturday and sunday without a doubt are the busiest days. When I go I always make sure I'm there over sat and sun. As for the rest of the week, if you go in the low season then some midweek days can be very quiet indeed with only a couple of 737/757 arrivals. I seem to remember wednesday being a quiet one and I think this is the day we chose to go off to St Barths to visit SBH. If you go to the airport website you can download a copy of the timetable which can help you plan what days to be there.

KLM still flies the MD-11 there on fridays.

Bad news for me is that I won't be able to take photos of it in the week I'm there.
Good news is: because I'll be on board, both ways.

I'll be there from April 01 - 08, to meet with a few fellow aviation geeks. We'll probably be at the Sunset Beach Bar all week...

If anybody is around, please drop me a message, or check in to the Facebook event I set up for the meet: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=159950934019066 (works only if you are logged in to Facebook)
