Priority Screening For Australian International Ai

Tue Mar 01, 2011 8:01 pm

We are please to announce that we will be offering Priority Screening for the 2011 Australian International Airshow @ Avalon. We will be screening images with priority through 7March.

Whilst Avalon is an air display, rather than airshow, and would not normally qualify for priority screening, as an experiment we are going to priority screen images from there for the duration of the show. There is no need to inform us of your uploads as we will screen these by location during normal screening.

This is an experiment and if successful we will extend this to other MAJOR airshows

Thank you and happy shooting.

That's definitely a welcome change, thanks  !

That sounds new to me; could you please explain the difference between an airshow and an air display?

Cheers,
Andrei

I hope this means we might get priority for Sun 'n Fun and NBAA in the future. Sun 'n Fun is the end of this month.

Interesting update. Although screening time has been consistent and fairly quick, I hope this experiment works out well.

This is good news about Priority Screening for the 2011 Australian International Airshow at Avalon.
Thank you for putting it on the world map.

From which date will priority screening start?
Airshow aeroplanes started arriving from 24 February 2011. Will these be included?

Just to give my two bobs worth about definitions, I would regard an airshow as one where there is significant, if not wholly, trade/commercial involvement. This would include Farnborough, Paris type airshows.
Air Displays would be events such as Duxford, Fairford, and any other military or non-commercial displays.
The Australian International Airshow falls in the first category. The first four days are trade days only and proof must be shown about aviation involvement when purchasing trade day tickets, and even complimentary ones.

Cheers,
George

Just to clarify the matter further, here is the website:

Too bad the announcement about priority screening came too late for me personally - I didn't have the facilities to process the photos; if I had known, I would have borrowed a good monitor from a friend here in Melbourne.

Should we expect priority screening for the Avalon 2013, or was it just a one-off thing?

Thank you to all photographers who have provided us with images from Avalon. Priority Screening is now closed for this event, photos upload from this point forward will be screened as part of the regular queue.

At this time we do plan on offering Priority Screening for Avalon 2013. If that changes we will let you know.

Thanks
