New Camera - Looking For A Good Spotting Lense

Tue Jun 28, 2011 6:24 am

My first post in the photography section

I am looking for a lense for spotting. It's not my priority but it's always fun around the airports
Currently my plans are a Nikon D7000 camera and either a Nikon 70-300 or Tamron 70-300.

Are my proposed lenses any good? Would also appreciate any other recommendations!

Thanks all!

Both Nikon 70-300VR and Tamron 70-300VC are excellent choices. I also use D7000 and Tamron 70-300VC for the same purpose.

I use a D90 and recently purchased a 28-300 VR to allow me a bit more flexibility when shooting stuff close up (mainly helicopters and GA types).I now keep my 70-300VR as a spare lens.

Surely some binoculars are required for 'spotting'?? A lens is for taking photos.
