Date Rejection?

I have had three images rejected because I only put the year due to the sensitive timing of the images.

The upload help clearly says "Choose the date when the photo was taken. If you do not know the exact day or month, you can leave them in 'Unknown'." which is exactly what i did.

The rejection reasons listed for the images are:

Reject reason: year only for date not acceptable info personal

Reject reason: year only for date not acceptable, minimum month/year info personal

Reject reason: year only for date not acceptable, minimum month/year info personal

Has something changed that I'm unaware of?

I would appeal them but I haven't received a rejection email three days later...

Despite not receiving the rejection emails, the rejection reason is clearly stated - year only is not acceptable.

There's a clear difference with what you've done (where you know the exact date but prefer not to give it) vs. uploading a 30-year old slide where it's entirely possible you really don't know the exact date it was taken.

Either re-upload them with month and year or forget them.

Quoting apgphoto (Thread starter):

I think the point is that you do actually know the date, but have decided to withhold the information. Did you include a comment to the screeners explaining why?

I'm on my iPhone. If I recall correctly, Head Screeners addressed this about 6 months ago in the forums. Mick Bajcar clarified this, and the requirement has changed. Give a try to searching this forum. When I'm back on my PC I will also try.

Paul,

I just took a look at your pictures. Nothing has changed in that respect but as the rejection note says, you'll at least need to provide month and year for those pictures. Keep in mind that Airliners.net is a database so withholding information is not in our interest.
Also other photos of carrier operations in the database show the complete dates and I guess you were authorized to take photos so I guess the information is not THAT sensitive.

That put apart, they are very nice photos and I'd love to see them in the database.

Kind Regards,

Thierry

P.S.: the rejection emails not going through is a bug the developers are aware of and working on

unless there has been a more recent update, this thread explains it all.

Dates On Uploaded Images (by dendrobatid Oct 4 2010 in Aviation Photography)

Dates On Uploaded Images (by dendrobatid Oct 4 2010 in Aviation Photography)?threadid=359205&searchid=359253&s=date#ID359253

Above is the thread.

Here is the jist:

For the sake of consistency we are going to apply a small rule change from 20th of this month regarding dates on uploaded images.
These will be :-

Full dates are preferred but images will generally be accepted with only a month and year. No 'modern' images will be accepted with solely a year and these will be rejected for info. No images at airshows, museums or air displays will be accepted with anything other than a full date unless old

If multiple images are uploaded with simply a month and year, all will be treated as having been taken the same day and will be treated as double if appropriate. We will not look at different lighting conditions etc. If motives are similar they will be rejected for double

On the basis that images that are submitted for priority must be news, these will not be accepted with anything other than a full date.

In discussing these rules we realise that there are people that are unable to supply full dates but they are accommodated within them. However, this remains a database and it is hard to perceive a reason why full dates should not be included at a Museum or Airshow. The upload guides will be updated in due course

Thanks for the clarifications, probably would be helpful if the help was adjusted to match the new guidelines.

Might also help if all the Screeners knew about it to save images getting through the net as some of mine have previously.
