Stolen Photos On KLM's Facebook Page

Thu Mar 22, 2012 6:25 pm

Just a heads up, I noticed this morning that one of my photos was on KLM's facebook page, uploaded by an "Angelos Kastritis". I believe there are other Anet photos that have been uploaded with their copyright bar removed...

Quoting pilotkev1 (Thread starter):

There are indeed quite a few stolen pictures. Maybe the photographers should check them out and complain to facebook about it.
I couldn't find any of my pictures there, so I am fine - for now...

Knowing KLM's Social Media Hub, just post it on their wall and I'm pretty sure they will take care of it!

It's just a little photo album to share KLM pictures. The fact that a few people upload A.net photos with a little watermark of their own, is questionable, but you'll always have characters like that.
If it doesn't happen on Facebook, it'll happen of Flickr or any other website. Quite impossible to police the whole WWW. If photographers don't want it to happen, don't upload to the WWW without a watermark. In that case, A.net has a big leak: A FC member doesn't get to see a watermark and your photos are wide open for ripping.
It sucks, but it's just a fact of the modern times of internet.

Watermarks don't stop them either, as there have been pages on Facebook (and elsewhere) in which A.net photos were posted with the watermarks on them. In addition, one can remove watermarks using tools provided with most photo editing software.

I have been uploading a couple of my own shots there for fun. I did notice a lot of people uploading 'stolen' photos, but I just send KLM or the uploader a request to remove the photos, and it happens without a problem most of the time.
