Planespotting In Madrid (Barajas Spot)

Hi guys,

just a short question. I will be in Madrid the next view days. I want to visit the Barajas-Spot, due to some descriptions on the internet I think i will easily find it (I will take the metro): exit to the left, walk in direction tunnel, ...


But I do have 2 questions where I could not find an answer:
1) At what times can it be used (to avoid backlight)?

2.) What kind of zoom lense do I need for the spot? From what I saw the airplanes are pretty close, so would a 18-135mm lense be sufficient??

Due to luggage restricitons (no I am not flying Ryanair, but I have some more stuff to carry) I don't want to take more than one objective with me.

Hi,

It's good from around 15:00 this time of year. Any earlier and the sun's just too high for good photos. Your 18-135 will be fine.

thanks a lot. I already saw your pictures form Madrid, they are very nice!


Originally my plan was to get there at 13:00, so I think I will postpone it a little bit, but my problem is need to be back in Madrid-City at 16:30! So it will be a short stay... 
but still better than nothing!

If the sun's out heat-haze will likely be a killer until the evening.

thanks for the information, but I will try anyway

I have no chance to go there in the evening this time..

So I will check out the point, and if there won't be any good pictures this will not be a big issue for me, as it is no planespotting trip.
It would only be a bonus
