Well, I use one old love, the Caon 400D with the Canon 90-300 EF. However it is time to update both the camera and lens.

I use the Nikon D7000 with the 55-300VR. I'm not totally satisfied yet though. Something about my aviation photos just doesn't look nice. I know this lens is not perfect, but the results I get just look too soft.

The lens works fine for me sharpness wise, it is a bit slow to focus and the front element rotates other than that I don't see any deficiencies.

I am using a Canon T3i with a EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS lens.

I really like the body and am saving to get the Bigma 50-500 (I think that's the correct focal length without looking it up)

Canon 50D with:

Canon 17-40 F4L
Canon 70-200 F4L
Canon 1.4TC III
Canon 18-55 IS
Canon 70-300 IS USM (not used anymore unless I need a filter and only have a 58mm)
Canon 55-250 IS (also not used anymore)

Anyone want to buy those last two lenses?

Previously used a Canon 1000D.

Just the basic tools for me as I am still learning.

Canon 550D with the stock 18-55mm lens that came as a kit. Happy to have a photo accepted here using that lens. Also, I own a Canon EF 70-300 f4-f5.6 L IS USM, which is the obvious primary lens for aviation photography.

Interesting to see a couple guys using this lens. Is it a good investment? Or was it just packaged as a kit lens or something? I don't have a super-wide-angle right now.

It's one of the best UWA values out there, and my go-to lens for widebodies at SXM. Here are some of my pics, using it:
http://bit.ly/OIgxmQ

If you ever go full frame, your 17-40 will probably be a tad sharper at the corners, but the 10-22 is excellent glass. Still hoping Canon comes out with a top-notch UWA, though. Even the 16-35 2.8 I just picked up is a little behind the Nikon 14-24 in quality (although the NIkon is $400 more).

Interesting - I thought EF-S lenses couldn't be used on full-frame cameras. Don't they lack the EF-S mount? Or are you saying the 17-40 on a full-frame would be sharper than the 10-22 on a crop?

Thanks for the info!

I'm saying the 17-40 on FF is probably sharper to the corners than the 10-22 on a crop. My friend just picked up the 5DmIII + 17-40 to replace his 7D + 10-22 for UWA, so we'll see how he thinks they compare.

It is, though I feel as though mine is going a bit blurry around the edges. My cabin pics are nowhere near as sharp as they were at the beginning of its life. Tell me how that 16-35mm goes because I'm eyeing that up as my UWA for the jump to FF as well.. However by the time that comes around, there could well be another lens around there!

Using an old EOS 400D with the cheap 18-55mm kit lens (1st generation, no IS yet) and a nearly 30 year old 100-300mm.
Looking for a complete upgrade soon, but there are other expensive hobbies as well...

I have also a Canon PowerShot S100 which is always with me, in the cockpit, on tarmac, in the mountains... A few shots in the database from this year are shot with this great little camera!

Canon 5D III
Canon 7D
Canon 5D (old, and surplus to requirements, but my affection for it exceeds resale value  )
Panasonic GF1

and, sadly collecting dust, a Canon F1

Lenses: pretty well have everything I need, but still dithering about something between 200 and 500. I can't bring myself to buy a 100-400 with rumours of a replacement soon, and I'm not over impressed by any of the 300mm zooms. There are some nice primes that would fit the gap, but I would prefer the zoom. I'll just have to be patient.

Canon 500mm f4 IS (usually with a 1.4x convertor attached)
Canon 70-200 f4 IS
Canon 24-105 f4 IS
Canon 17-40 f4
Canon 50mm 1.8
Canon 85mm 1.8

Tend to stick with Canon for glass, but a couple of exceptions acquired for specific purposes:

Sigma 20mm 2.8
Tokina 100mm macro

Micro 3/4:

Panasonic 20mm 1.4
Panasonic 14mm 2.8
Panasonic 75-145

Still shooting with my trusty 30D and at times 10D(if it wasn't in storage might even take a couple of images with the venerable D30) and for a carry around camera a Canon G12** since my 11 y/old G1 gave up the ghost!

Having said that I am no "antique" equipment bigot, I am currently negotiating the decision tree process for the next camera, might be a 60D(next couple of weeks) a 7D(couple of months) or a 5DIII (next year sometime)

Lenses.. there is a whole other saving program. Currently most av(and motor sport) photos are with a trusty Sigma (original Bigma) 50-500 that has been in the camera bag since about 2001.

Cheers

** if travelling ultra light might take on the run shots with a LG P-500 phone-- crappy camera and not much better as a phone and likely replaced very soon!!
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!
