Thanks

Thu Aug 02, 2012 4:46 pm

Hi all,

Although I'm a long-time contributor I've recently gone through a bit of a bad time with my uploads, partially due to changing over from my geriatric Photoshop to PS Elements, and partly due to overconfidence in seeing colours - I really need to use tools to check colours I'm afraid.

I thought some of the rejections were rather harsh, and I got a bit frustrated, but to the credit of the screeners almost each rejction carried a short personal note explaining what seemed to be wrong, and often even a 'sorry Peter'.

My last dozen or so uploads have all been accepted, so I seem to be back on track now, and I would just like to say thanks to the sceeners for their efforts. Thanks!

As a long time viewer of your photos, glad you're still here!

I also went through a rough uploading period a couple months ago. Acceptance rate plummeted. But mine is also back up now.

Seems like a lot of people went through a similar thing!

Thanks Vikkyvik. Yes, it's not unheard of.

Peter

Thank you too.

Most people can achieve our standards and we all get rejections but we (Screeners) are giving personals an awful lot of the time now, hopefully always giving them when they can help the uploader. In particular, appeals without a personal are an exception now, very rare, and then only when they are ridiculous or self explanatory. Dips in acceptance are not unusual when there has been some sort of change in workflow, monitor, lens, camera etc but the fact that these have been remedied in part by the personals show that the system is working.

Whilst some rejections are self explanatory I have always taken the view that the uploader receives a rejection better with a bit of explanation, the personal.

Mick,

The personal messages are very helpful and much appreciated.

However, while my most recent few rejections have had personal messages attached, I have been unable to read them because I am no longer getting rejection emails, for reasons unknown.

Is this happening to others also?

Hi Viv,

Contributors randomly receive or don't receive the e-mails. Might be a bug or other reasons like spam filtering, but you should anyway be able to see the personal in your "rejected photos" http://www.airliners.net/myphotos/rejects.main

Hope it helps.

Hi Patrick,

No that just tells me that there is a personal message.

I've had the same experience as Peter. Most of my problems have been with "soft". The personal messages have really helped me figure out where the problems lie - my lenses, exposure settings, computer monitor and eyes (in judging sharpness and lighting adjustments). Also, switching from a CRT monitor to a flat screen has been a real learning exercise.

Viv - read a little more carefully. I just checked my last rejection and the personal message is there.

Definitely not there. Just says "Motiv, personal".

That's pretty strange. In the screening log there is a personal for your image.

My reject looks like this:

Not sure why you don't get it showing up.

I don't know, but it does not show up on any of mine.

Viv, I can see the personal messages on my rejects page. That used to be not the case. I'm not sure when it changed for me.

Hi Mick

The personals in the appeals really help! Thanks once again to the screeners for their comments.
