Making A Quick Stop At Paine Field

Thu Aug 09, 2012 5:43 am

Hi all,
On Friday morning I'll be passing by Paine Field and was wondering if it was worth stopping for 10-15 minutes to look around. I'd mainly be interested in seeing any of Boeing's large planes, particularly the two new ones. Is there a good spot to just park for a few minutes and look around? I'm not particularly interested in photography spots, but it's always a plus.

Inside of the airport, near the small museum (with UA 727-100) there is a parking lot with picnic tables. It is official spotting area. From there you will see pretty much half of the airport.
second spot is parking lot of the old fire house.
third place is parking lot of museum of flight. from there you can see second half of the airport.
anywhere on the west side where you have access to the field you can see everything.

This is actually the Future of Flight Center, located at the north west corner of the field. Admission to the Statodeck is free and you have a great view from there of the Boeing flight line across the runway. I'd recommend it over the other spots.

That spot doesn't exist anymore.

What happened to it? Last time I was there in July 2011.

Thanks dc for the suggestions, I didn't end up taking any pics but it was pretty awesome to see all the new planes close up. Very cool!
