Nikon D7100 Announced

Thu Feb 21, 2013 1:46 pm

FYI, Nikon has just announced the D7100:

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikon-d7100/
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d7100/nikon-d7100A.HTM

Highlights:

24MP sensor (same as the D5200 it seems, so most likely made by Toshiba) but, most importantly, with no low-pass filter
AF system with 51 points, 15 cross type, center point that can work at f/8 (an improved version of the AF system from the D300/D300s it seems)
(Thankfully) Same battery as the D7000, D600, D800, etc.

Sample pictures (full res but, interestingly, only low ISO):

I wonder if it's a "worthy" camera. Any details about the price?

It will be released at just under $1,200, body only, i.e., same release price of the D7000.

Got an email from B&H out of New York today.

They are taking pre-orders now. Body only, $1,199, with Nikkor 18-105 VR $1599.
