EOS 7D AF Modes

Wed Mar 06, 2013 6:22 pm

Hello all,

I have always wondered what is the best AF mode to choose! I usually usr the zone AF (with 9 in the middle). Recently, I have seen lots of people saying the single point AF modee is better. What is your recommandation and suggestion?

Cheers,

Itay

That's really personal preference. Some people like having multiple AF points to use. Personally, for 99.99% of my shooting, I use the center AF point only. Even if I have to focus then re-frame, I still prefer it for whatever reason.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Totally agree with the centre AF point focus, have had more success than failures in this mode.

Centre point for me too. I'd rather choose where I want the main focus to be rather than let the camera do it for me.

It depends - I general I favour single point, with my thumb on the joy stick to place the point where I wanted it. One of the nice things about the 7D is that all the focus points work well.

The zone mode is really useful when the action is fast and furious - one of my 7d tricks is that you can store a different focus mode for landscape and portrait format shots which makes grabbing different framings of a subject that bit faster.
