NRT Spotting At The Parks And Museums...

Sat Mar 16, 2013 3:55 am

Hey guys,

If you google NRT or look at videos from there on youtube you'll find fantastic shots from various points at the end of the runways there....but for me, without my car, it's seemingly impossible.

Does anyone have any good idea on how to get there?

If you have an address or something for the park (i know there's one by the Marroad?) please tell me, so I can give it to a cab driver.

Also post examples of photos you took from there so I can cross-check.
If you are in Japan and would like to spot with me sometime after next week (i'm going to be kinda busy until April 1 though) please tell me
Thanks and Happy Spotting!

Edit- crap posted in wrong forum, had three tabs open. Mods, move to Av Photo! Big grin

I'm sure if you tell the Teksi driver Sakura No Yama Park they should have no problem finding it. If not, open up Google Maps and show him how to get there. It is indeed very close from the Marroad Hotel and very easy to get to from the terminal. As for the other perimeter RWY 16R touchdown and line up and wait shots, you'll definitely will need to have a knowledgeable driver to get there as it is a tricky find. I may shoot around the perimeter later this month if I am not flying.

When you arrive in Japan-land, send me a PM and I'll give you my mobile number.

Take the shuttle bus from the terminals to the Marroad hotel, then it's a ten minute walk to the park. Taxis are very expensive and trying to convey exactly what you require can be difficult with no knowledge of the language.

The park offers approach shots for runway 16R (think the above poster has got mixed up), which is mainly used by European, US and cargo flights (although you will get JL, NH, KE and a few others). For 34L you need to get a regular bus from the terminals to the aeropark/museum at the south-east perimeter, then follow the perimeter west on foot for 15 minutes.

There are other spots that offer much closer views but you need a tall ladder.

Yeah I don't think I can trek one of those in the Narita Express.... I think it may give off a bad image

Ok when I get to the Marroad, which direction do I walk? I'm looking at a map now and it looks like there's two different roads that go north and northeast from the hotel...

The spot I am referring about is not Sakura No Yama Park. If you go past the park and make a left turn along the side roads, you'll fine some good spots parallel to 16R but you'll need a vehicle to get there unless you want to make a 20 minute hike. Most taxi drivers will not have any knowledge how to get there unless you provide directions and speak basic Japanese.

Once you get to Marroad, continue southwest along Rte 44 and the park is on the right. Can't really miss it.

We used these spots but had ladders - is there a section where no ladders are required?

Thanks guys! I'll figure out what I can do.

If anyone can spot my arrival on Thursday (DL275, N661US) at NRT (4:00PM) that would be awesome! I'm going to work on a TR.
