Masterclass.. A Reprise

Thu Mar 28, 2013 12:38 am

Hi all,
While responding about frame rate etc in another thread it occurred to me that there is perhaps some benefit in a new "Masterclass" series.

A few years ago we held quite a number of these threads and I am positive members gained from them.

An example..
Masterclass: Shutter Speed (by Beechcraft May 2 2007 in Aviation Photography)

Is anyone interested in this concept, either to learn or contribute?

Regards

Chris

If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

Yes, I love this idea. And it would be great if it sparked activity in this nearly dead forum!

Indeed, same here. Bring some life back to the forum! Also noticed that the non-av picture thread seemed to die down too..

I wish that thread was allowed to exist in this forum. It would probably be a lot more active and it would be great to see photos from members who only visit this forum.

Sounds like a plan. Probably not much for me to contribute, but hopefully lots to read!

Well go post some photos then!   It seems to go in spurts. It certainly does for me....
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

You are right, Chris. The Masterclass series of threads were very interesting. If there isn't an easy link to them all as a group, there should be.

I would be very interested to see some more/updates of those that will presumably have long since been locked.

Well Paul there is... because this thread has Masterclass in the title, the Anet similar thread system lists the Masterclass threads at the bottom of this page.

If anyone has questions, expertise or just something to contribute to any of the existing subjects just open a new thread and link the existing one in your post.

If your subject is a new one just open a thread entitled Masterclass:xxxxx.

Obviously it would be stupid to start a Masterclass thread for a simple question but for complex scenarios where technique, experience etc can offer differing solutions... we might all learn something

Let's see how that goes!

Regards

Chris

I guess Anet nowadays is very much concentrated on proceeding issues that there are very few space left for photography itself. So I'm in favour of the idea.

Photography is a great thing. From one prospective it is very easy - you have shutter, apperture and ISO as the three key instruments (even two I'd say). However from the other view - you can be advanced professional but whole your life you look to other guys to learn from them - always something new you can find.

To understand and learn photography basics is the matter of few weeks. Books and exibitions can give you a lot. But the most effective way is the masters' advises.

I am one of the folks who really only visits the photog forum(primarily because my membership level only lets me post here)

Just to clarify, are you saying the av photog forum is nearly dead as compared to the others on the site? It seems like it goes through periods of being pretty active, depending on the thread.

As I try to learn as much as possible from folks who are doing the same thing I do, the masterclass concept would be great to see

Yes, the photog forum might be the least active forum here. In addition, you quoted my comments regarding a thread in the non-aviation forum encouraging people to share their non-aviation photography. I think that thread would be more active in this aviation photography forum because this is where photographers are most active.

A great point, since I rarely(if ever) visit the non-av forum. I go to other sites for my non-av needs but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of great material being discussed over there, it just has low visibility
