Pictures Posted Without Credit To Photographers

Sun Mar 31, 2013 3:27 am

seems at least a few pictures were taken from A.net, without any credit for photographers.

guess it is impossible to avoid this kind of thief.

Anytime you put something on the internet, it will be subject to theft. You have two options. First, you can place a watermark on your photo but that is ugly and makes the photo unattractive. Second, just publish a very small photo with small pixels - say 500x250 at 24dpi.....enough to see it but not enough to even do a nice 4x6 print of it. That is probably the best solution. A number of veteran professional aviation photographers do this for their sites. If you want a larger resolution shot, then you would have to pay them.

I hope that brings some sense into this.....

Unfortunately if you post your images to a.net you can not apply your own watermark. If you use the a.net watermark as I do it can be simply removed just by paying a small membership fee.

There is no guarantee to be given to any of your photo which is uploaded to your website. It can be indexed by search engines and thus available for anyone through respective search terms. You have to set watermarks to your pics, somehow to prevent the usage of such pics.

Here is a website: http://picmarkr.com

They are providing quite nice option of getting watermarks in your pics without making it ugly and of course at free of cost. Though, there are several internet photo copy experts who can photoshop your pic and remove the water mark straight away.

Hope it helps a bit
