CNN Article: ORD Airport Watch

Sun Jun 09, 2013 9:06 am

Found this on CNN in case anyone is interested. I think this program should happen at more airports and it's good to know several US airports are using this throught the local aviation photographers.

Anyone here part of this group?

Terrific exposure for the US spotting community. An idea: Re-post this article to your local airport's FB page/twitter feed. So the folks "upstairs" can see it.. cause when it comes down to it, they're the ones who determine whether strangers with cameras can loiter around their property.

How will it work at ORD for the casual/irregular visitor who hasn't been vetted? Will they still be treated with suspicion or moved on? From reading the comments, the scheme at IAH seems to be more friendly in that respect.

I do not think that you can be afraid of be kicked out or be threated as with suspicion. We are every day around ORD and all police or other security officers know that there is someone like planespotters- additional eyes of security. If you are visitor contact first before you arrive with someone from ORD AW and you can planespotting with us without any fear. Every weekend there is a group of us in major spotting area so everyone are welcome to join us. Lot of us has pictures uploaded on a.net.
BTW I was on that day and I'm somwhere there in the article (that guy with a scanner). It was nice day thanks to Steve.
