Binoculars Recommendation For Plane Spotting

Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:08 am

Hello everyone, this is my first post here in the forums!

I would like to know which Binoculars are needed to spot aircrafts flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet and above so that I can make out details like the aircraft logo, aircraft type, livery color. The number of aircrafts that fly over my house is pretty high and I have used by super-zoom camera which has a 26x Optical Zoom to take photographs of them but was planning to buy a pair of binoculars so that I would be able to take a closer look at the aircrafts through them when they fly over.

I came across the Celestron SkyMaster 25X70 25x Binoculars, will they be good to use in this case?

Try them before you buy, to see if you can hold them steady enough. Maybe you can, but if I were buying unstabilized binoculars for myself I wouldn't go past 16 power.
