Lens Recommendations?

Wed Oct 30, 2013 5:53 pm

Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a new lens for my Nikon D7000 to complement the Sigma 150-500mm since 150mm is a bit too much at certain spotting locations. I am hoping to get something that would also be my primary shooting lens for everyday stuff, something in the range of 35-150mm. I am on a pretty tight budget so I can't afford to drop a grant on the Nikon 24-120mm for example. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks everyone!

I'd try 50 mm prime (fixed) lens. It works very well as everyday lens, and the picture quality will be excellent.

The 18-55 VR and 55-200 VR are excellent for your needs. Another option is the new 24-85, they are sold with the new D610 kit and I see lots of them for sale.

The 55-200 VR looks interesting, for some reason I didn't notice it when browsing through all the lenses. It is pretty cheap and should cover my needs at this point. I have an older Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 so the Nikon 55-200 VR should fit perfectly in the gap that's between my two Sigmas. Thanks clickhappy!
