Has Anyone Ever "Run The Table"?

Thu Nov 07, 2013 8:16 pm

In other words, has any single photographer owned all of the top 5 photos on the front page at the same time?

Not that I know of...

The closest I've come to that was taking the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spots.

This is the closest I've been:

3 of the Top 5, and the Top Photographers' Choice, which was one of two photos which had just dropped out of the Top 5. Had I uploaded all of them at the same time, it might have happened. But these days, the Top 5 is largely dictated by whichever photos A.net chooses to promote on their FB and Twitter feeds, and not on what people who visit the website are viewing the most.

For a short time yesterday, I was in the Top 5 among three of Sam Chui's photos.

Its a shame. Its getting harder and harder to earn a spot in the top 5 these days. Not so long ago 700+ views in the first 24 would give you a good shot at getting on the front-page, lately though, there are many images getting 1000+ views on their first day and not getting into the top 5.

Sometimes you need also luck to get a picture here into Top5. Especialy if you are not photographing airliners it depends when your picture was accepted and which country is sleeping and which is awake!
Because some motives are in different countrys more or less interesting!
Sometimes I am wondering which of my pictures enters Top5 and somedays I am wondering that some of my pictures I thought they will be Top5 are only earning 500 views or less. And if you compare this with other databases it is sometimes even more different. Top5 at airliners.net but on the other db only 200hits ore vice-versa!

For me I´am wondering why interior-pictures like a seat alwas have such high view-counts?

But for me much more wondering is the Stars-Ranking-System. If I have a high ranked picture with 5.0 it soon gets enough one-stars-ranking in a row until it is down to 4.0 ore less.
Thanks to all ONE-Star voters just to push a photograph down!!!

Yep. When I get Indian military aircraft accepted in the morning/afternoon here in India, I usually average 3000+ views. If they get accepted around 2100h local time or later, it could go either way because most people are done for the day and heading to bed.

Likewise. I understand flight deck shots and I really enjoy those, but often you get a dozen rows of Y on the top spot and I just don't know how that could possibly be better than a cloudbusting heavy that is down at #5.

PS: Mark, 4 of 5 is pretty damn hardcore! Good show.

Cheers

Here's a case where the photog got pretty lucky; 4 of the top 5:

Usually those types of photos get around 500 views in the first 24hrs but since the site was having problems only a handful of pictures were added and these photos managed to get to the front page with barely over 200 views...

@kiffy
Collecting pictures, collection pictures from other photographers, collection screenshots with my own pictures on the main-site, ok!
But collecting screenshots with nothing from me on the main-site, well ....

I don't have a screenshot but I had 3 in the top 5 once. I had a total of 7 photos accepted that day and 5 of them were in top 5 at different points in the day, just not simultaneously

Guys,

Please stay on topic what had several pictures in the top 5 and do not start secondary discussions.

Thanks.

Surely discussing reasons why it's not likely to happen is related to the topic. Am I missing something?

The topic has been discussed in so many threads and here it only turned into the usual bashing. So we removed them. The question is just who had more pictures in the top 5 and not how this happens...

Well it could happen today, 4 of the top 5 and 7 of the top 9 currently by the same photographer
