I'm heading back to NY this weekend, and may have some time on Sunday for some spotting...you should also check NYCAviation.com for the latest on spotting around the area. Often, folks will post on the forum there if they are planning to head out.

Itay I hope you have an excellent trip, enjoy JFK, I can't make it up there from Philadelphia this weekend unfortunately. You'll love the Howard Beach location if they're on the 31's, especially as departing aircraft begin their banking turns!!!

Thanks for the reply. It's my first visit to JFK. So, I must spot with atleast 1 spotter, and I havn't got any positive answer, everyone just said no, they cant make it.. Maybe some of you guys know other JFK spotters and could ask them if they can make it on this weekend.

Regards,
Itay.

Someone just got detained by police and brought in for questioning in handcuffs a few days ago. Since you're planning to avoid Bayswaters park you should have no trouble....

Itay,

Sorry the response has been so sparse for you. If the weather promised to be a bit better I'm sure there would have been more responses. Tomorrow is suppose to be very cold and if you are going to Howard Beach that won't be to bad since you can jump in and out of the car to take your pictures. But if they are landing on the 04s and Baywater is the spot you can expect it to be brutally cold with the wind coming off the water. The mounds for 22L approaches should be a bit better, but not all that much. 31R approaches should also be good since you can position yourself so that you can sit in the car out of the wind between flights.

Don't worry to much about the police. I've been taken from Bayswater to the police station before (with Phil Derner), questioned, and then released. We were not handcuffed then, but we were forced to ride in their van to the station. Someone must have reported suspicious activity for the response they had. Back in Sept. we were told to leave Bayswater because the Air Force One was about to land. Bottom line is it's not illegal to take photos of the aircraft from the park.

Good luck tomorrow. Hope someone comes to your rescue.

Interesting - I've photographed AF1 arriving and departing from Bayswater at least half a dozen times, and never even had PD in the park.

Itay, I'll probably be out in the morning...

Moose, we went to Inwood Park after being thrown out of Bayswater. Two cops there radiod in and got permission for us to stay and take pictures. They stood right behind us.

Hope you don't freeze your bippie off. TTYS

Sorry, no, that was a dash - it was +28F but with the wind chill, it sure felt like -28F!
