Pre-Screening Advice (22 Pics)

Sun Apr 08, 2012 11:50 am

Hello All, stay up all night editing the pictures below. Now I know not all will be good enough but your feed backs will help me make those that aren't good enough better. Thanks.

To be honest, most of them have issues with noise, oversharprning, level, centre (low mainly), soft, blurry, motive, pool lighting, to name but a few. The only ones that's close is No4 really.

Hey KL692, its Max, the guy you spotted with!

Fundamentally these are actually extremely well executed shots, that pack good quality as well as motive. In terms of the editing, try not to oversharpen some, and use selective sharpening like I told you. This will help reduce noise, and tastefully increase sharpness, and not compromise quality. There are lots of videos on youtube like this one;

Also when using a sharpening mask use something like 50,0.5,1. Usually does the trick for me.

Now, in terms of lighting, the only major issue with that, would be with the 23 overhead shots, They are just a tad dark.

Thats the same westjet we got. Dana Low told me the only issues possible with that one were; level, haze, and centering. So I guess you can use it as a guideline for sharpening. Anyways, good luck, believe me you have mostly very nice shots, and I d say most of them would in fact get in with some good editing. Cya, and good luck!

As Darren has said, these would all be rejected for a variety of reasons. If you would like more specific critique, why don't you pick just a couple to focus on.

Something else to note is that you've resized a few of the photos incorrectly, so that they are warped slightly (#3, and the last two are the ones I noticed, though I didn't look through them all). Those 3 photos all look like they've been stretched vertically (or shrunk horizontally).

Those appear to be the same photo, just processed differently.

Either way, it's too distant, and would probably be a motive rejection for the landing gear being blocked.

Also, the 2nd one is dark, and color looks a bit weird on both - maybe too yellow/red?

Not sure what the value of commenting on the quality is when it's an instant motive rejection, but you would need to crop it tighter before such assessments could be made anyway.
