Pre-Screening JK

Wed Sep 19, 2012 8:22 pm

Hi guys,

I took this nice picture.
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b...dy/i1348079298.0642img_3646air.jpg

I am afraid it might be slightly grainy which could cause a rejection?!.

What is your opinion?

Only the airplane was sharpenend and I took it with ISO 100.

As I have no experience with noise reduction at all, I would be very thankful for some help.

I am using Photoshop Cs5.1.

Thanks & regards,

jay

Hi Jay,

Yes, I would agree that at least the top 1/4 or so of the sky is grainy/noisy. I suspect it would get you a rejection especially since it should be fairly easy to remove. I do not know what built-in capabilities PS has; most people seem to use standalone noise reduction software or plugins. Here is one thread where some different ones were mentioned:

Do You Prefer Neat Image Or Noise Ninja? (by Alberto Riva Nov 5 2009 in Aviation Photography)

HI Marty,

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah exactly the top quarter of the picture ist the part that bothers me the most.

I would consinder using a plug-in, too. But I always heard that noise reduction has to be used with care, so is there anyone who might help me with the editing?

I tried to do it with PS but the results where dissapointing.

Regards,

Jay
