All look soft and/or blurry to me.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Any thoughts on these?

Vik is correct, all would be rejected for soft/blurry.

Oh OK. Soft maybe as I'm trying a new sharpening technique but blurry? If you mean out of focus or suffering from camera shake then no. None of them suffer from that so I'm not sure where you are coming from.
If anything the DC-3 looks oversharp to me but there you go.
Back to the drawing board (or Jetphotos   )

Where I'm coming from is:

Front half of the UA 752 looks blurry.
The whole FedEx looks slightly blurry, particularly toward the nose.
A380 and DC-3 both look mostly soft to me.

All I can comment on are the edited versions. No idea about the originals.

OK thanks. I'll try tweaking the technique - it isn't helpful if they are decribed as soft/blurry - which is it? Soft I can do something about. If they are blurry (whatever that means - blurred, suffering from camera shake, out of focus would be much more useful terms).
At least they aren't grainy - that's always something.

Hello Derek.

I would go with 'soft'. I know what you mean about the distinction - but they are looking soft. The DC-3 is the closest I think.

My suggestion - take a look at the FedEx again. The registration area/Irish flag on that makes me think I haven't got my glasses on. I reckon you definitely have a settings issue for uploading here. But if you are not seeing that I wonder whether it looks different on your monitor as compared to that which the contributors in this thread are seeing. Given your comment about the DC-3 looking oversharp - which it certainly doesn't to me - I wonder whether the image your monitor is generating is overly sharp.

Take care.

Paul

I appreciate what you're saying Paul but my monitor is what it is. I'm not going to change it to upload here. I was trying a new sharpening technique which clearly needs adjustment. I know a.net likes oversharpened images for some reason so judging what looks best as opposed to what is required for here is always a bit of a lottery, especially when the standards keep changing.
