Hello, and welcome.

Quoting maodeh (Thread starter):

I'll asume vignetting wasn't the only rejection reason? I see issues with softness, color, size, and centering as well. That having been said, it's not too bad for your first attempt, though I don't know if you will be able to edit it to standards for here. Assuming you can fix the issues I have just mentioned, the image will still be backlit, which in general, doesn't work too well for here. In any case, you can try giving this one a re-edit addressing the problems mentioned above, and we'll how that turns out.

Hi,

Take a look at the sky, it is darker on the sides and especially in the corners. This is called "Vignetting".

Wiki: "In photography and optics, vignetting ( /vɪnˈjɛtɪŋ/; French: "vignette") is a reduction of an image's brightness or saturation at the periphery compared to the image center. "

You could try to solve this problem by using a Lens Correction filter for example in Photoshop.

But you should trust Dana's words, there seem to be other obstacles to get it accepted.

Anyway good luck and don't give up.

Perhaps take a look at airliners editing guide, it might help:

so how is it now ?

Framing & size are ok now, but still quite soft. How sharp is the original?

If the original image is only 1023 pixels across, there is probably not much that you will be able to do. You should keep in mind that while very versatile cameras, super-zooms like your SX40 make great compromises in terms of quality to fit such a massive focal range into a single camera/lens combination. You shouldn't expect results to be too good in anything but the best light, and at relatively close range. Anything outside of those conditions, and you'll start to see quality issues, like with the image above.

it's actually 4000 pixels across , i think the uploading website is minimizing the image size

i captured this pic by the SX40   and i can see that you are completely right about what you said MR.Dana

so anything to do more or i have to captre another picture

Thanks a lot .

Like I said, I would need to see the original before making any final conclusions, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for this one.

That's quite soft, almost to the point of being blurry, so I don't think there is much you can do with this one. Sorry.

Also quite soft and noisy, and the fact that you would need to crop a significant part of the frame means the quality issues would be quite obvious.

Not much better. I don't think this one is going to be possible, so better to start anew with a different image.
