Post-screening - Dark Again...

Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:37 am

I've been following other threads on here and there seems to be an obsession of slapping dark rejections for things that aren't dark. I've brought this up before since this has only started happening with me in the past year or so. Here's the latest:

I don't see how this is dark besides for the fact that the aircraft itself is painted that way. Look at the sky, it is nearing the point of being blown out. I never understand why this rejection is applied indiscriminately without taking this into consideration. If the helicopter was white I bet it would be rejected for overexposed. How is it any darker than this for example? (same day and lighting, a few minutes before, same color heli)

For reference, here is another photo from that day (10 minutes before the helicopter shot) where the aircraft is white and no problems with "dark" and you can see the sky is actually darker here.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I used to get a majority of shots of aircraft on overcast days accepted no problem, so I'd be glad to offer someone the original file of the Mi-26 and have them "brighten" it to the correct level so I can see what is needed here. Because I personally don't see the problem...
