Best Transatlantic 1st Class?

Sun Sep 03, 2000 11:10 am

Does anyone have any suggestions about which airline has the best transatlantic first class service, given a choice between British Airways, Air France, Delta, or American? (I have accumulated an absurd number of frequent flyer miles and will be redeeming some of them for a trip to Europe. The learned advice of my fellow colleagues would be much appreciated!)

British Airways has an extremely high standard of service. You will be assured of an individual private cabin with a seat that reclines to a bed. BA was the airline that introduced this concept to the world, and it is a firm favourite of many of demanding corporate clients.

Out of those , BA has the best. Although Virgin has a good first class.

BA is the ticket....but only done it twice. You won't be dissapointed in the least--it's very civil...and the service is above reproach.

I haven't found a US carrier to compete

BA - civilised and sophisticated.

1. Fly from their dedicated terminal at JFK.
2. Dedicated check-in.
3. Lounge access anywhere.
4. Any pre-take off drink you wish.
5. A la carte dining - choose from a wide range of food cooked whenever you want. A steak for breakfast? No problem!
5b. 'Raid the Larder' for snacks throughout the flight.
5c. 'Goodnight' service on evening flights from JFK - eat in the lounge and sleep through the flight.
6. The BA First Private Cabin - 6ft 6in flat bed with duvet, sheets and a complimentary sleeper suit.
7. 18-channel inflight entertainment PLUS a onboard video library of cassetes you can plug into your seat.
8. Private cabins available on all 744s and 772s.
9. Arrive in the modern, comfortable Terminal 4 at LHR - not the old, crowded crappy T3 that UA and AA fly into.
10. Use of the Terrace arrivals lounge at LHR, with showers, seating, food all when you arrive.
11. Priority Baggage Handling.
12. Use of fast track facilities everywhere.

13. '21st Century Air Travel'.

Ditto Eg777er- BA First has to be the way to go.
My only complaint about it is that after experiencing such luxury, I dread having to use their Economy product (which is quite often for me)!
Also, in my opinion, BA tend to be too snobbish about their First Class, but hey, that's only the envious opinion from the back of the bus  Go ahead and ENJOY!
