Flight TG406 from Singapore to Phuket.
Plane Registration : HS-TAY
Plane Type: A300-600

Reached the airport at 0715am for the 0915 flight. The Thai Airways counters at Changi's Terminal 1 were crowded with people waiting to check in for the TG402 flight which is a B777. Check in for TG406 commenced and I got the seat assignment 38A.

Went to the viewing gallery at 3rd floor and saw the beautiful A300 sitting there at the gate D32 which had been there overnight. Unable to take good pictures because of the morning fog on the glass panels at the viewing area.

Passed immigration, and stayed there for about 30mins trying on the new FREE interactive internet facilities and went around taking a few pictures. The BIG surprise came when a red painted plane landed at around 0815am, a Wunala Dreaming !! Mananged to take a few pictures, but have yet to develop the film.

Other planes which i was at Changi at that time were a CX777 (B-HNI), a BA744 Chelsea Rose (G-BYGF), a Gulfair A340 (V40-LD, i think) and a second surprise..a Lauda Air B767 which had a green L at the tail, not the double Red L as the normal colours. NG don't even fly to Singapore, so i wondered what the plane was doing here.

Boarding time, and i took the seat just near the front end of the wing. The seats were the old type, no winged headrest and footrest and i think the seating was 32". after everything was settled, we pushed back at 0917am. The plane had a long taxi to Runway 02R from Terminal 1. and we were lined up behind 2 SIA planes, a A340 and a B744 registration 9V-SJL and 9V-SMM respectively.

The Wunala Dreaming was to take off behind my plane. Another surprise was seeing a Malaysia Airlines B747-400 landing just before we were about to take-off. This has to be my lucky day, seeing all the planes in Singapore that i had not seen for a long time !

Take-off time 0939am at Runway 02R.

When inflight, there were NO movies and NO headsets, so it was rather boring. The screen only showed the flight map. Breakfast was served and it was a hot meal of "Chee Cheong Fun" or some rice cakes (?), hot tea/coffee and juices. Not very filling as the portions were rather small. Flipped the inflight magazines and safety cards that somehow ended up inside my bag  .

The service onboard Thai was above average, but definately not the high standards that i had enjoyed since my last flight in 1992. The crews were friendly, but lacked that ever important smile, that make TG's serivce well-known. Got a few postcards from a f/a at the back. She passed me a stack and asked me if those were enough.

The flight was smooth, all the way to touch down. The landing was good...kudos to the technical crew in front. It was Smooth as Silk for sure.

Landed at 1008am at Phuket International Airport, the time is 1 hour behind that of Singapore. taxied down the single runway to park beside HS-TAZ, another A300.
The last farewell given by the cabin crew and I left the plane.

I think I have been on the same flight as you last year.I was fling Thai to Bangkok, but the flight flew via Phuket. The aircraft was an A300 and the service was just like you said.I think Thai were treating this as a Domestic flight as i had the same kind of service fom Bangkok to Chiang Mai.My trip from bangkok to Sin was the proper thai service
