I arrived at SFO at a little past 10 am for my 1140am departure. I made my way over to the Non-Rev check in, and then headed over to the Burger King.
At about 1040am I went over to gate 83.
I was on the list for the flight, and I sat down. Looking out the window, the captain and I made eye contact. He waved. I tried to get him to give me a thumbs up for a picture. Oh well.
United flight 1023
I was called up, and was given the last first class seat:D
Well so I though. I started to put my stuff down, and get settled in. The f/a took my coat. All was well. All of the sudden, the paying pax bumped me. I was moved to seat 12F.
Economy Plus is very nice though. We pushed back right on time, and began our taxi out. The safety video played. I love that video.
We are at the main departure runway (I forget the number) but it was the left one. To my right, I watched a Shuttle 737 go, and about 5 planes land, then the 757 that we were following out to the runway went. The 747 that was behind us left using the north/south runway, two more planes landed, and we were off.
Take off was really weak for a 757. I've had better on a turbo prop! Up, up we went. We flew right over San Francisco, then over the beach, and out to the Pacific.
Shortly after take off, the flight attendants came through with pretzels, and beverages. I took a diet coke, and they gave me the can. Sadly on this flight, channel 9 was not working.
One thing that I want to add is that this plane has all new seats, as well as new over head bins. They are here so more bags can be loaded into the bins. Since they are rounded, they give a real noce feel to the cabin.
During the flight, I did not get up out of my seat. I did take a few over the wing pictures, and a few cabin shots.
Later, the flight attendants collected trash, and we turned over Orange County. Looking down, I saw two airports, and one military base. We flew over the city, and pasted the airport. We then spiraled downward, and lined up for short finals. Smooth landing.
Since we landed early, there was not a gate for us, so we taxied over to a remote spot, and waited for twenty minutes.
We arrived at gate 4, ten minutes late. This was due to CSR handling on the A320 flight to SFO.
After everyone left, I retrived my jacket, and the captain took me to the cockpit. I took a few other cabin shots.
I entered the terminal building. I checked in with a gate agent, and she gave me a departure managment card.
The terminal is kinda boring. Oh well.
Same plane as the ride down.
I boarded at about 2:30. The flight attendants took my coat. I put my bag up in the bin. The doors closed, and slides were armed. The safety video played, and we started our taxi.
This time ATC was working:D
We rocketed down the runway, and using only 1/3 of it we were airborn. The angle was about 40 degrees. Not quite as much as I expected.
I took a diet coke, and a bag of pretzles. During the flight I talked wipth the flight attendant Cathy.
Later, i got up out of my seat, and talked with them over at the galley. I ate a roll of bread that was found. Mmmmm!
The purser Jill and I got in a debate about DC-10s. The seatbelt sign came on, and we flew over Standford. I saw my old elementry school. If I was sitting on the sither side of the plane, I would of been able to see either my house, or my grandpa's house, as well as my school.
We landed on the left runway, and taxied over to gate 89. All in all it was a great trip. I was a little disapointed in the 757 at SNA. But it was still fun.
Oh one thing that I want to add, is that I've for the longest time tried to avoid the 757. I got a little airsick on N527UA before, and guess what...I saw 5427 (N527UA) over at SNA today.
These two flights today, have changed my opinion of the 757, but I don't think that I would want to go for hours, and hours in one. I'll take a 767 over any 757s any day.
