A Day In The Life Of A Flight Attendant

Fri Dec 29, 2000 9:31 am

Hello,

I was wondering if some of the flight attendants that use airliners.net could post a trip report about flying around, and being a flight attendant.

One thing that I've noticed is that all of the trip reports are from the passengers point of view. I would like to see one from a flight attendants point of view.

Somethings to keep in mind would be:
-From where to where, and in what kind of equipment
-Any interesting passengers?
-Any rude passengers?
-Any of those troublesome pax?
-What position did you work?
-What did you do during the layover?
-And anything else that you want to comment about.

The reason that I ask this is because I want to be a flight attendant, and I would like to know more about a day in the life!

Happy Flying,
David

Earlier I read about a typical day for an F/A.
I'm sorry but I don't know the address for the site, but I accessed it through the Caledonian Wings website (www.celticairways.com).
Click on the 'knot' at the bottom of the page. Go to "job oppertunities", and click on the part about the necessary qualifications. Click on the cabin crew section and then click on the bit that is there for people with no previous cabin crew experience.

I also want to be a flight attendant when i am older. I have read many of them ILUV767.

Go to this site and they will tell you heaps of things. It is really cool. Many airline FA's are there and they will answer any Questions you need to know.

Cheers

Then go to chat and bulletin boards and then crew rumors.

Hope this helps.

Mikey,

Some of my knowledge comes from my dad, but other than that, most of it is from what I've studied. I know that airline inside and out. Like, take for exapmple... I'm a supporter of the 737NGs at United. It would make scence, and you woudnt have all of the weight restrictions at DEN. All of my comments regarding United are based on basic logic.

anyway, email me at dhorne@jps.net and we can talk more about being a flight attendant. Hey, when you fly do you go to the galley and talk with the flight attendants? I do. Since I have to dress up to fly, why not just dress like a flight attendant? So, if im back in the galley, within 20 minutes, i'm working. One time I flew on US Airways, and I was back in the galley with Kevin pouring soda for Bill to serve to the passengers. Jim and David took the cart out. But, hey, I was working. I fly a lot at SkyWest United Express and some of the flight attendants are my buddies. I have on friend that is now at UA in ORD.

Good luck with your career!  Let us fly togther sometime

That's a good idea. I'd love to also see trip reports or day-in-the-life from a Pilot as well.

Basically through observation:

Preparing food in the galleys.
Pushing trolley to serve food and drinks.
Checking seat belt.
Smile through out the whole flight (SQ)
Identified those passagers with special meal request and put a sticker on their seat.
After arrival, prepared for the next departure or check in the hotel.
