United's Air Fares

Fri Jan 19, 2001 1:35 am

I'm going on UA IAH-LAX roundtrip nonstop for $218RT on March 16, returning March 23. Everybody elses fares are $419RT why is there such a difference in air fares?

It may have something to do with the fact that LAX is a UA hub.

I hate to be a pessimist, but living in denver i have never seen United start a fare war. Usually good fares on United are soley a response to other airlines fare wars. For example, UAL just finished a fare sale to the east coast from denver, and at first it seemed genuine, but upon closer inspection i found ATA started the fare war and united just matched.
Oh well, enough pessimism, im flying NW from phx to bos in april for $175! god bless NW! Even better, i get to fly on a DC-10!

Welcome to Airliners.net Mikeybien.

Great to a a NW fan onboard.

You'll enjoy the DC10, are you going thru DTW or MSP?

Nothing beats a widebody!!!

I'm flying through MSP both ways. I tried to arrange to stop at DTW one of that ways instead but that messed the pricing up.
yeah i miss flying widebodies... i haven't been one one since about 94'. Since then i've been on the 737 marathon... last 10+ flights were on various UAL & F9 737's.
