JetBlue JFK-BUF-JFK 1.20.01 And 1.21.01

Tue Jan 23, 2001 11:03 am

Flight:jetBlue flight #2 JFK-BUF
Date: 1.20.01
Seat: Row 2, seat B
Time: 7:00am
Arrival: 8:13
Aircraft: A320-232

After being deprived of the air for 11 months, I was glad to wake up at 4:50am to catch my flight to drop off my grandmother's christmas present: A Lhasa Apso puppy. The puppy was to be stored in the seat in front of us only, but yet it cost 7 dollars more to fly her! (I know they don't want pets.. but.. she should have gotten a seat)
I checked in electronically by typing in my conformation number- I found it was pretty funny that a window would pop up "Did you pack this bag yourself?" and you had to press yes or no.. kinda defeated the safety purpose, but it was fun anyway.
The front of the terminal was beautiful, and the gates were nice as well, but they reminded me of CDG with the circular pattern.
The plane was exactly on time, and the plane was more than half empty. All the flight attendants were extremely pleasant, except for one, who kept on yelling at my father and I to put the dog back in it's carrier (My dad was holding it because the dog was whining from the pressure changes)
The TV's were great... I felt like I was back on Virgin Atlantic... there was only infomericals on (Saturday morning) so I tracked my flight and watched the weather channel.
Snack were Bagel Mix or Blueberry Toast Chips... I chose the Blueberry Toast Chips... not exactly something I'd eat again, but not bad. I had a coke for a drink- I was surprised it was a full size can.
We landed 2 minutes early- perfect landing- never felt a landing so smooth... I barely noticed we landed.

Flight: Flight #3- BUF-JFK 11:00am
Date: 1.21.01
Aircraft: A320-232
Seat: Row 13, seat A
Depature Time: 1:45pm (Ugh!)
Arrival Time: 3:15pm (Ugh!)

We knew the snow at JFK was heavy, so we called in advance, they told us the flight was "20 minutes late, but please arrive at 10:30 because we might take off on time" When we arrived at the airport, they told us a 40 minute delay... which wouldn't have been so bad if BUF had airplanes to look at! In the 3 hours that we were there, 3 planes had taken off or landed. I must say that BUF is a very clean and bright airport, but very boring. The board over the gate kept changing from 12:50 to 1:15, to 1:30 to finally 1:45... which is when we exactly took off. Seats again were wonderful and the TV's were better because something was actually on. Had a 3 year old brat behind me, but it didn't stop my unhappiness. Snacks were either the bagel mix or Chocolate Chip cookies- I went with the safety of the cookies! Big grin Halfway into the flight, the pilot announced that we had to circle because of a Hold- JFK only had one runway open. So after a 20 minute tour of the Atlantic Ocean, New Jersey and Long Island, we finally landed and had a nice tour of Terminal 8 and 7 (Waved to Iberia, booed at British Airways)~Very sad that we didn't pass Terminal 1- where all the VS planes were!  Sad
Even after being stuck and circling, I still fell in love with jetBlue. I've realized that I won't be flying VS for a long time, but I consider jetBlue VS's American sister. They give you more than you pay for- I highly recommend them to all!
Go jetBlue!

Great Report Catie. How full was the flight on the way back from BUF? I hope JB will become a very successful airline.

Rumor has it that jetBlue will start a flight to my home airport of SAN in the near future. With fares as low as $300 rt I would certainly go to New York, if only just for JB!

The flight on the way home was about 1/2 full.. BUF is not a popular route in the dead of winter (can only wonder why...  Big grin )

I love jetBlue. They are amazing. Clean planes and great service. I love to see a jetBlue trip report because everyone I've read always ends up with someone ending up falling in love with jetBlue. May all your skies be jetBlue!!!!!!

Strangely enough, I was actually at BUF when your flight back to JFK was boarding and watched everyone stream aboard the plane (including you no doubt, but I had no clue who you were!). I was supposed to be on the CO MD-80 a few gates down heading to EWR.

Nice report. If jetBlue came into the ATL market, I might actually give them a shot.

B747- I was the one in the long sleeved gray shirt- I sat closer to gate 12 than gate 10 for 2 hours. That's so weird! Were you the one who, when looking at the departure screen, told us that the flight was moved up to 1:10? That's so weird! LOL

Nope, I didn't talk to any pax from the jetBlue flight. I was wearing a blue jacket and jeans and spoke almost incessantly on my cellphone in the gate area - pacing from the UA/jetBlue gates all the way up to the DL/CO gates! I also took a few pics of the CommutAir B1900 in the US/CO hybrid livery that came in from ALB.

I can't say that I recall you, but then again after watching hundreds of pax stream aboard many aircraft, can you really blame me?  Smile

Can't blame ya.. but where did the hundreds of flights come from?  Smile I only saw a Southwest and Shuttle America take off and the AA flight land... I'd much rather be stuck at JFK (who wouldn't?)

Haha - I didn't mean only at BUF. It's been a hectic week with travel BOM-LHR-NYC-ATL-DTW-CLE-BUF-YYZ-YXU-YYZ-BUF-EWR-ATL in the last 10 days, so pardon me if one airport seems just like the next!  Smile

I also saw the CO MD-80 come in from EWR, as well as the CommutAir B1900 - but both of them pulled off the runway well before they got to the windows by the jetBlue gates, so you might have missed them.
