sorry this is a bit late...

dep. 27/09/2000
AY 005 dep .1415 arr. 1555

me and my friends got to Helsinki-Vantaa quite early, about two hours before departure and checked in. My friends got seats 51 J and L as i was left waiting for my seat as i ws stand-by. We sepand the time at the airport shopping and talking untill we started boarding. my friends boarded the plane as i and about 6 other stan-bys had to wait at the gate to see if we fit in the plane or not. As the clock was 1430 the plane was late and we still hadnt gotten aeats, since we were waiting for transit passengers from Sofia. Finally at 1445, an hour late the gate staff started calling our names, and as we found out there were no seats left so we all got jump-seats. Me and two other stand-bys were put in the cockpit and the rest in the main cabin, except two of the satndbys didnt want to use the jump seats because they were "uncomfortable".

Well i took my seat in between the pilot and the co-pilot, adjusted my chair so i could see good out the window. The captain chitchatted with us a bit before takeoff as we taxied to the main runway. We took off with a full load (pax 315 normal 311 but 4 on jup seats)
The take off was beautiful, dashing throught the clouds with a beautiful view. As we got to cruising altitude i stayed ina cockpit for a while longer before i went to spent 7 hours on a jump-seat in the main cabin...wasnt really comfy but anyway. I sat down on the 3rd door jump-seat opposite this really nice woman who was on a jump-seat too. As my back was facing the cockpit i couldnt see the TV´s so well i got a bit boored. uckily the F/A´s brought us champagne from business class and business class lunches too! (reindeer, chocolate-coconut mousse, shrimp salad) The only negative thin was that we didnt have any trays so we had to but the tray on our laps.. Smile

At one point went to sit on my friends seat in 51 J for like five mins. It felt like heaven(!) it was like first class, so soft and you clould listen to music and

Well About 20 minutes before landing i moved back to the cockpit for landing. Had a few samll business class miniclub sandwiches and water from the c-class galley and the opened the cockpit door to find out someone took my middle seat! So i had to sit behind the captain and i could hardly see anything! Well we landed..i jumped out of the cockpit and waited for my friends..went to immigration which was 45 mins...well i got past the lines coz the guy who stole my seat new everyone at JFK, but my friends didnt so had to wait for them anyway...

so that was my New york flight...and the return...

we got to JFK really early again mayby 2 1/2 hours before departure..checed in...this time i got a real seat 48D and my friends were seated on the other isle in 56J and L. Was dissapointed to notice that was seated in the rearcabin, since Y-class chairs there are still old, unlike in the mid cabin where they have wings and are really comfy (well that what my mom said anyway HEL-PEK-HEL flight). Anyway went to the foodcourt ate a bit of noodles then went through security to finf out that there was basically no entertaiment in the AA terminal...only a real small duty free a small kiosk and a well we went to the bar had a some magazines and finally boarded the plane.

Take-off was as usual...they served dinner...chicken pasta was okay. had some wine and a few gin&tonics before going to sleep. woke up when the breakfast trolley was at my seat, ate my omelette and sausages and oj...and soon after we landed. Immigration took like 2 seconds...and i was very content when looking at the non eu line where all the american where standing for a period muuuuch longer than the eu citizens, since i had to stand in line in JFK for so long ( well my freinds did) .
Collected my luggage and went home...

so that was it!
