YVR-SXF, June 21, 2000(Cn 703)

After a 4 hour gryhound ride to YVR from the BC interior we arrived via cab to the International termainal at around 7 am, it was pretty much empty. The flight departure was 11:30, but I insisted we be there few hours early so that we would be able to get the best seats. To my suprise there was already some german dude standing at the counter with his bags for the same reason. We parked our belongings behing him and went to get something to eat and do some exploring.

One of the drawbacks of this beautiful airport is that there is no observation deck on top of the terminal, but there is a large window in front of which was an AC 762 parked.

Check in started around 8:30 and I got my boarding pass(seat 35A), the staff was friendly. After some more exploring I commeced to gate, having paid a $20(I think) airport improvment fee. The sweet A330-200 was already waiting at gate 72(If i remember correctly), and boarding commeced around 11:05. The A330 was sweet as I imagined and the aircraft began to taxi to the runway. The accelaration was fast and I found myself pleasently pinned to the seat, The CF6's sounded way cool. Rotation came quickly and the aircraft quickly came to crusing altitude. 45 miniutes later were were at the gate in Calgary, some people left the plane there and more came on; the aircraft was almost full. The departure was a bit more slugish as was the climb, no doubt do to the 60,000 liters of fuel the aircraft took on board. The crusie was uneventfull, but passed rather quickly thanks to the feature movies. The service and food was excelent, for a charter airline. Seat pitch was ok, being 6'2" and I did not find it too bad. We landed in SXF a few minitues ahead of scheduale. The arrivals section of the airport in was pretty crappy for an international airport, no doubt because the airport was built under communist rule. The rest of the airport was not too bad. The weather in Berlin was super hot, good thing we found our ride quickly though he did not have air conditoning.......d'oh!

SXF-YVR August 17 (Cn 704)

We go to the airport an hour before departure, this time my parants didn't care I wanted a window seat and we had to sit in the only available seats, middele ones!!!!....arrghhhh. From SXF into rainy Hamburg where we had to wait about an hour until they got the plane cleaned up. The aircraft did not pull up to the gate so we had to use the stairs, giving me a chance to take some close up pics of the plane. After departing Hamburg I slept for most of the flight because nothing much happened. The landing in Calgary was smooth as was the one at YVR. Then back on the geryhound again, it was an old and full of people, and I was stuck in with some drunk hobbo going to his sisters birthday in Merrit(if you know where that is).But I thought he was pretty cool since he gave me some beer.

-I took the same flight on August 23 since a family member passed away from lukiemia 3 days after we left, and my mom thought it was necessary we attend the funeral. Theflight to SXF was cool because it was the first time I saw a sunset from an airplane, while enjoyng some moderate turbulance(capitan switched on the seatbelt sign). The drive back to Berlin was hamperd beacause the German people decided to protest gas prices and the whole highway was blocked with with cars. We had to drive back againt traffic to the nearest exit and drive through a bunch of villiges which added an hour to our drive. We still arrived quite early and I got the window seat 19A. This time I visited the cockpit and after asking the pilots a few questions and hearing a few flight attendant jokes I went back to my seat. Rest of the flight was same as above, though my dad picked us up from the airport(thank god).
