Just got back from CDG on flight 881. The aircraft was C-GDSP. The first takeoff attempt was aborted due to a circuit breaker being tripped shortly after the engines reached takeoff power. We had to go off the runway for about 15 mins then line up again. The rest was uneventful - we even arrived a few minutes early despite departing 1/2 hr behind schedule.
I choose the aisle seat for this flight and was a lot happier. It also helped that the seat in front of me was not occupied (therefore no one could recline into my lap again). I was able to sleep comfortably for a few hours. The food was pretty good...chicken or salmon for lunch and a croissant sandwich for a snack. My BF persuaded a F/a to prepare his pack of instant cup noodles...so I think overall we are pretty happy.
I don't care for in-flight entertainment, but AC is still back in the 80s at least on their 767s. The old projection type screen with 12 audio channels. The thing that bugged me most though is that AC has not invested in AirShow for these aircraft...it just makes the flight so much more interesting. Espescially considering that much of the time the screen is blue displaying "please select another channel". I've just got so used to seeing it.
I'm not as sour on AC anymore. I admit to being a bit cranky on my first post. That was manily because I was still comparing them to the former Canadian Airlines (CP) which they have since gobbled up. They still haven't reached that level. Plus I was really irked about the seat pitch being the same as a "cheapie charter". But redoing the cabin layout and updating the in-flight entertainment would make them truly world class.
LH423...you shouldn't have to endure pain and suffering for the privelage of paying for an airline ticket.
