Maui Approaches

Wed Mar 28, 2001 4:28 pm

I was on a United DC-10 from ORD-OGG and about 30 seconds before landing the jet made what felt like a 90 degree turn to the right. It was so close to the ground that I could see the shadow almost touch the wing. I was wondering if anyone had a similar story or if this was a standard approach to OGG?

Well, the only explanation I can give is you were on base leg and then made a right turn on short final.
