ATA-American Trans Air (US) is the best airline for charter services!  Smile

Britannia Airways, based in the UK but they also fly from Finland, Sweden, Norway (?), Denmark (?) and Germany. I've flown 11 hrs (ARN-NAT, NAT-LPA-ARN) in their B767-300, IT WAS HELL ON EARTH!!!

I think Premiar (scandinavian branch of Airtours) was good (haven't flown them since 1997, and i have heard that the new A330 are too cramped and uncomfy)
Their Dc10 were spacious and the food were far better than on britannia.

Sun Country is pretty much TERRIBLE for a US based charter. Let's just say that after a burner 72S trip on SY in WX/fog, I'll never do it again. Fortunately, I've never had the pleasure of experiencing the others that my airliners.net friends have previously posted.

I do seem to remember an article in Travel Agent or Business Travel Weekly a few years back about the Aer Lingus 330 that was XLD out of JFK. They brought in some flying death charter L10 and packed everyone aboard. Carry-on's were so heavy that they were actually stacked in front of the exit doors. The pics of the interior of the a/c were incredible.

Hi Ibe1238... From my experience I like LTU and Hapag-Lloyd. Futura and Arkia are O.K as well. Corsair has great prices (good) but a louzy service.
Hope this help.

I thought Air Scandic were great as were most of my charter experiences but the best one had to be Air 2000. Worst one probably Air Europa.

I´ve been on Hapag-Lloyd, LTU, Condor and Condor Berlin. All more or less the same; but Hapag and Condor put 3-3-3 in the Airbus, LTU only 2-4-2.

I have only flown LTU and Condor and I have to say that LTU is much better than Condor and even better than many scheduled airlines.

Well, what makes a charter airline bad or good. Friendly F/A´s, good food, but never keep their schedule and cramped seating ?
Britannia (of Sweden) seems to be running late quite often, that´s what I call a bad airline. At the moment BLX158 from Monastir to Stockholm (ARN) is running some 5 hours late. Scheduled to arrive ARN 0155, expected 0655...

Would you care to elaborate on that... Only Airbus Condor has is the A320!!! And what Hapag Airbus are you refering to,the A310??? I personally liked Condor, hated Lauda and loved Spanair. Heard good things about LTU and horrible things about Martinair....

Onur Air out of Turkey. Once paid about $100 to get IST to LGW, but it was delayed about 6 hours, no assigned boarding routine, what seemed like 29 inch pitch. One of the most uncomfortable travel days of my life.

I'll have to say that the best charter is Canada 3000! I took a flight this March and the service, food were outsanding! (See my trip report) C3 has a great seat pitch (31 or 32 in...like any scheduled airline, great!) and I was pleased to see all the legroom offered (I'f I compare with Air Transat, they have nearly double the legroom)! Their A320's are configured in a 174 single- class layout that removes a row from the max seat. of 180... Also, I know that their A332 have a 2-4-2. That is pretty good though(Like LTU). Friendly FA and clean planes... always on time (or at least from Montreal or Ottawa cause they have some delays from Toronto but never as bad as Air Transat)...
Worst Air Transat... you know why, and I'm sure that Europeans also know what I'm talking about... Never Going to fly them again after my Canada 3000 flights Smile
