This is the real JFK-LHR redeye. Departure from JFK is at 1130PM and arrival around 1135AM. Boarding on time, aircraft spotless with the three class interior. I am seated in the back of the economy section, and the 'more room' is nice on a long flight of this nature. Flight time is 7 hours and 40 minutes. The PTVs are great, although I was a bit dissapointed that the games feature has apparently been turned off since the last time I flew the route on the Airbus, about three years ago. Take off was to the East, with an AirAfrique AB6 which is rather unusual sight west of the atlantic following close behind.
Flight routed over the Atlantic, south of LI, then crossing the island, straight over martha's vineyard, newfoundland, the north atlantic, ireland, and direct into heathrow.
Dinner served about 50 minutes out of JFK. Choice of salmon or beef. I had the beef which was rather tough. Overall, I was pretty dissapointed with the level of service on the flight.
Watched a movie, and then fell right to sleep, only to wake about 2 hours out of LHR by an F/A announcement. Apparantly, a passenger had become ill, and we had began a decent into Shannon. I watched on the moving map. We did indeed change our course slightly to the north, and began a decent. We were down to about 31,000 feet, when the captain announced that we were going to continue to LHR as the passenger had stabilized. We got a straight in route, and were on the ground about an hour later.
Parked next to a Saudi 777 and a Turkish 738, but had to wait for the ill passenger to be removed, which took nearly 25 minutes.
Deplaned, and collected baggage, and off to the hotel for an overnight.

Checked in at 545a for this 655a departure, and had a chance to Check out Terminal two, which houses most european departues. Saw a pleathora of BA world tail a/c, mostly 734s, 320s, and 757s, plus all of the new union jack 319s, which are pretty boring. Also got to enjoy the new BmI colors on several 320s. I hadnt noticed on photos the red elevators and alerons, quite a nice touch. There were also hybrids of 733s and 321s, plus two 735s in the old livery, which suddenly looks quite dated when compared to the new one. I must say that I dont love it, but it does look far, far better in person...
Aircraft for my flight was one of the newer 757s, with 535E4 engines, that will be retained by BA. The interior was immaculate, with dark blue leather seats, and ample legroom. I was quite surprised to see the total lack of IFE on this flight though. Take of was brisk into a beautiful clear day. Service started immeadiately with a choice of breakfast sandwhiches and coffee/tea. This far beats the service on American airlines flights of equal time. Total block time was about 1 45. Arrived in beautiful Copenhagen to a great variety of aircraft. Thai 743, SAS fleet, including the new Dash 8Q-400s, and old colored F50s. New Crossair and Skyways E145s, plus Maersk 733/73Gs, a KLM 738, and a BEAUTY, which we parked next to, a Pulkovo Tu134 with dayglo orange wingtips.
Copenhagen is a modern, clean facility. Luggage arrived within 10 minutes and passport control was not a problem at all. I was out of the airport in 20 minutes...quite a feat considering the amount of luggage which I was carrying!
Overall, a very enjoyable trip.
