Upcoming Air Canada Tel Aviv-Toronto-Kansas City

Tue Jun 26, 2001 2:55 am

Hi! I just wanted to let everyone know about an upcoming trip report I will be making. My friend, Ben, who moved to Tel-Aviv, Israel last summer is flying back to visit for three weeks, arriving on Thursday. I have Emailed him and hopefully he will take notes on the flight over on Air Canada via Toronto. Just for a little information on his flight, he will be flying TLV-YYZ Thursday on an Air Canada Boeing 767-300ER, and Toronto-Kansas City on an Air Canada Canadair CRJ-200. I'll post it up as soon as possible! Hope you like it! Thanks!

This forum is typically used for trip reports, which are made AFTER the trip.

Is it just me, or is there something that you don't like about me?

Seiple-

That's bullshit and you know it. Lot's of people post non-trip reports in this forum and the only time you say anything is when it's kids younger than you. The topic assigned to this thread exactly describes what's in it and if you don't like it, stay out.

I post messages like this indiscriminately of the person's age.

On other trip report forums on the internet, it is only trip reports. People are willing to follow the intention of the forum, and keep non-topic posts on other boards.

The overall point is that this forum is ill-moderated.

Are you a forum moderator? Didn't think so. Just hit the suggest deletion button and be done with it. No comments necessary.

Seiple, there's no point in fighting with people on this forum, they can't take constructive criticism. Do what I do and go to flyertalk instead for the trip reports!

Marco,

That's true. Flyertalk is far superior and the trip reports are of much higher quality, plus the forums there are only trip reports as people know how to follow the rules and topics.

Exactly and the trip reports on flyertalk discuss every aspect of the flight; the food, the load, time of dep/time of arrival, airline, etc...which is quite rare on this forum.

Yeah, to show how trip reports are usually on this forum, here's a little example:

Start example:
Well, I went out to the airport but didn't get there early to watch airplanes because mommy and daddy are mean people!!!! The check-in agent was mean too because she wouldn't put me in first class like I asked but I got a window seat in row 196 so I'm happy. I got to fly on a B737-700 so that makes me really special and feel important. At the gate it was terrible and this airline sucks because the jetway was long so I could not see my very very special airplane. On board the flight attendant smiled at me so I knew it would be a good flight. I put my eight carry-ons in first class overhead bins because I'm an inconsiderate 10 year old brat. Then I took my seat in the back but the flight attendant was mean then and would not bring me a whole drink. They said the flight would be 25 minutes long. The take-off was powerful and in the air I was pissed because they would not give me a drink with the whole can and did not serve me a meal. But they gave me some wings to pin on my t-shirt so I was happy again. My first flight ever was great! Then we landed and it was a very very bad landing in a storm because I can do better on my flight simulator with this airplane when it is sunny!!! I wanted to visit the cockpit in the flight but the flight attendant said I was not allowed to. I had to cry and she gave me more wings. So after landing we parked at a gate and got off the plane and I got to see my Aunt Sally!!!! YAY!!!! The End.

End Example.

Here's an example of one of Seiple's trip reports:

Since I have no life, this weekend I decided to waste some jet fuel by flying OMA-(insert several cities here)-OMA on (insert between one and three domestic u.s. airlines here) all in the same day just because I wanted to see what (mention airlines and cities again) were like. I have no real reason for taking this trip, and actually you will find it very boring because all the flights I usually take are short domestic trips that are a dime a dozen anyway and you already know what the service ought to be like. There may be some irregularities because the flight times will never be exact so I will tell you precisely the push back, takeoff, landing, and arrival times no matter how near or far they are from the scheduled time. I got up at 4:22:03 a.m. except I hit the snooze bar on the alarm so I didn't get up until 4:32:03 a.m. I arrived at the airport at 5:26:19 a.m. and I was the only person in the first class check in line while there were hundreds in th economy class line. I laughed at all those people and told them they were suckers for flying economy because everyone should work for an airline, pay lots of money, or use daddy's frequent flyer miles and fly first class. I got on board the (insert common narrowbody airliner) at 6:11:06 a.m. after the boarding announcement was made a full 1min 6sec late!! etc. etc. etc..........

Yes, I try to be very detailed with my trip reports.

I post them not only here, but on two other forums (flyertalk.com included.... go check it out and you'll see what good trip reports are) and that is what people look for over there. People read them to learn about service, attitude of employees, seat comfort, etc., as most people there are very frequent flyers and take many "run of the mill" domestic trips, so those kinds of things are helpful to them.

I travel sometimes just for the heck of it. More often than not, I am traveling for a purpose and stay multiple days.

I have never paid for a first class ticket in my life. All of my traveling outside of family trips is paid out of my pocket, nobody elses. I work for that money and spend it how I want to. I take full advantage of frequent flyer programs, doing all of the deals and promotions for bonus miles possible (everything from making an extra connection to get a double miles deal to subscribing to OAG like I do anyway) when I fly. That way after the first few trips I can make Elite/Silver/whatever tier and get my free upgrades.

If you would like me to dumb down my trip reports (as you seem to be requesting) to the level of many others, fine:

I went on America West flight 767, connecting to flight 75. Flew on B737-300 and A320. Flights basically on time. Served snack on both flights. Good service.

I'm sorry, but that's just boring and unhelpful to anybody who is coming here to find out what to expect from an airline (as is evident by the many posts asking questions.... those people should read the past trip reports and with the detailed ones their questions will be answered and more). All frequent flyer miles I have used for trips (except one) are my own. Only used another person's miles once because they were not going to use them and they expired unless used immediately. If most people here learned just a little bit about how to use frequent flyer programs and webtraveler fares to their advantage, they would find it very useful and could probably travel more often or get upgrades faster.

Mls515: You were being very harsh towards Jason. I look forward to his trip reports. They're awesome! So what if he flies first all the time? so what if he uses points? That's none of your business(none of mine too). Anyways Jason keep the trip reports coming!

PS: mls515 your trip reports are good too. I suggest you take a look at the flyertalk trip reports. They're excellent.

I can say that there are quite a few people who post good trip reports on this forum (Mls, Jason, and a couple others come to mind immediately), and I like to think my rare reports are reasonably good. That said, there are plenty of useless "trip report coming soon" posts and posts were people honestly took *no* information whatsoever, but just say things like "I got to fly on a 747!" Wow. Aren't they special?

Mls raises an excellent point in that Jason is not the forum moderator, but I see nothing wrong with his suggestion that trip reports be made *after* the trip. It's only common sense, people. Jason also raises some great points in the uselessness of the typical airliners.net trip report, and the fact that flyertalk is a much, much more informative board.

My personal, unbiased opinion? The most redeeming quality of the airliners.net Trip Report board is that it keeps most of these people off of flyertalk.
