Departure Time 7:05- -Actual-Approx 7:35
Arrival Time 10:05- -Actual-Approx 10:47
Aircraft: 737-200 (N327DL)
Departure gate was 45. I saw a bunch of aircraft parked (probably from overnight or something) and noticed the American Airlines 757 Retro Jet and took a picture of it. As I was walking back to the gate, a woman ran past me from the gate where she was boarding back to the seats where a man had fallen to the floor. I am guessing that was her father. A gate agent called the PA police and paramedics. They then paged to see if there was a doctor in the terminal. The medics did come and they did CPR for about 10 minutes or so, also had to shock him a couple of times, and they did give him some IV solution. After a while, they took him out through the gate and into an ambulance on the tarmac. I don't know what happened to him after that, just hope he's ok. They started boarding and this was the first time I saw this happen. They just took the boarding pass and scanned a barcode printed on it and returned the whole thing back to you. Pretty easy and fast. The jetway was broken, so they let us board from the tarmac on some stairs, which made me happy, because it would be the first time I get to go on the tarmac. I got someone to take my picture standing on the stairs going into the plane. Upon entering the aircraft, I was welcomed with the stench of overflowing toilets. Not that the toilets were overflowing, but that's how the plane smelt. I have no idea why, but it did. Once we started to taxi, then it went away. Takeoff was nice on 4L. Again I got to see things that I am used to seeing every day since I live in Jersey City. Things such as Society Hill and the Home Depot. The rest of the flight was nice not that much action. I believe the plane was around half full, so I took a row to myself to get a window seat. Approach into RSW was in some light rain so descent through the clouds was a bit bumpy. I have seen this before, but what happened on this flight confused me. At the edge of the wing, there is a 'valve' that releases something into the air and leaves a trail I guess. That was going for about a minute or so on approach. Then a stream of something started coming out of the middle of the wing. Can anyone tell me what these two things were? I know it might sound simple to some, but I just never learned what they were. A nice landing on Runway 6 at RSW although it was in the rain. Pulled right into the gate, went to the baggage claim, and my bag was the third one out, I was happy about that too. I know this report isn't packed with stuff, but I'm making it a habit to write up reports for all my trips now. I will type up the return report tomorrow. Then my next one's should be from EWR to ATL (MD-88) and from ATL to MCO (763) (My first time on both of those aircraft.) in August on Delta. So until then.
