LOT ATR 42 With Jump Seat Landing

July 13 th 2001
ATR 42-300 SP-EEC (ex- Eurowings, built 1988)
Flight # LO3408 POZ-WAW

I decided to fly to Warsaw rather than go by train, because of relatively cheap tickets (140 zl ~35 USD one way).
That was my first ATR 42 flight (I used to fly ATR 72 before).
The flight was operated by EUROLOT (LOT subsydiary) plane and crew. I joined the last sector of this flight (WAW-POZ-HAJ-POZ-WAW). The plane arrived from HAJ 10 minutes earlier than scheduled with only 10 pax.
16 pax were boarding in Poznan (one of them was left wing party leader Leszek Miller- probably next Polish prime minister who took the other EUROLOT plane flying to IEG (Zielona Gora).

When boarding I asked F/A about cockpit visit, she said she will ask captain. And 20 minutes later she came and asked if I still want to see the cockpit. I didn`t change my mind so I followed her and came to cockpit. The F/A went back to cabin and said helo to the pilots. F/O was in my age (26-30) the captain in his 40`s. Both were really OK, we talked for a while about the ATR`s, and then I aksed (I was really anxious) if I can stay during the landing. The captain said "no problem", F/O told me how to open the jump-seat and fasten the belts and I got the headset. Wow, my English is too poor to describe my feelings and all the events, but I must say- that was one of the best things that happened in my life.
I stayed in the cockpit a few minutes after we landed on ruway 33 in WAW and talked with pilots for a while, but I realized they were really tired after a long flight, so I returned to cabin.
Great flight, EUROLOT crew (I don`t know the captain`s name)- thank you very much.
