Monarch Airlines EDI-LPA-EDI

Sun Aug 12, 2001 10:36 pm

Arrived for check in for flight MON5856 to Las Palmas. My parents asked for seats with extra legroom so we got the front row of seats . We went through to the departure lounge and whilst in there I seen a Helios 738 depart fot NCL and LCA, an easyJet 733, Air 2000 A320, Spanair MD83, BRAL ATP,EM4, Go Bae146, BA 757,734,319, BMI EM4,A321,F100,Scot Airways Do328 x 3, British European Bae146, TNT Bae146, Channel Express F27, BAC Express F27.
When it was time to board the a/c, which was an A320, the back of the plane was loaded first and so on. We took off 10 minutes late on runway 24?. Smooth flight, meal was missed by me as I was sleeping (it was midnight). We arrived at Las Palmas 20 minutes early after being helped by strong tailwinds, which helped us ovedr our course over Ireland and Madeira. When arriving at LPA, I seen a IB A300,757, AIH A320,B757,AMM 757, MON A320, JMC A320,B757, JKK MD83.
Return flight:
Again an A320, same a/ as above were seen along with Binter Canarias fleet of ATR's, LTU 757, Spanair A320,. Flight time was 4 hours 30. I slept all the way.
A/c seen at EDI on return were BAC Express F27, Channel Express F27,L188, BA 757, bmi EM4, Scot Airways Do328s.
Both flights were fll with 178, and 179 pax respectivey on the 180 seat A320.
I am writing this in a rush so ask about anything and I will try and answer it.

I also seen an AEA 737 at LPA. FA's were chirpy, but to be hones, I preferred the service on Airtours to Monarch this time. And the front row didnt have extra legroom, there was a thing at the front to stop you for stretching your legs,
And one more thing, I prefer using NCL to EDI, and I thought that LPA was a decent airport, in spite of construction work.

GKirk

I've seen the very same aircraft in LPA at the beginning of July. I think it currently used by Binter Canarias for flights between the islands. There might have been something about this place on the news section of www.justplanes.com during either July or June.

Cheers

Icebud, yes Monarch do base an A320 at EDI. I think the crews are from EDI or GLA.
Tobias, yes I thought it might have been being used by Binter Canarias but wasnt sure.
