Balair Flight To Antalya

Fri Aug 17, 2001 9:24 pm

On friday 3rd I flow with Balair Boeing 757-200 to Antalya/Turkey for spending one week beach holidays there at wonderful Side. Departure time was early in the morning, about 6.00 am. At Zürich aiport was not a lot of traffic at this time, just the asian carriers arrived. Anway the flight was completly full in Economy Class (151 seats) and half full in Relax/Business Class (51 seats). Flying time was 2h 45min. Once in the air we were served a hot breakfast (omelette), fruitsalad, orange juice and bread. It was excellent for a Charter flight. Overall Balair did a very great job.
We flow over Eastern Europe to Turkey. I had wonderful view out of window. Landing in Antalya was nice. I saw quite a lot of russian airlplanes, like Air Ural IL86 and lots more russian build aircrafts ans of course a lot of German charter airlines like Condor, LTU, Happag Lloyd and Aero Lloyd.

Back flight was on July 10st. Again with the wonderful Boeing 757 from Balair. The 757 is a great aircraft, I like it very much. Retour flight was at lunch time, so once in the air we were served a hot meal, which included a saussage, potato and beans, pasta-salad and a dessert. Again perfect service for a Charter airline. Flying time was 3h 10min. Before landing we were served chocolate (also by the onward journey) and they came around with tea and coffee after the meal. On both flight they made a big duty free sale and I bought a airplane modell on the back flight.
Overall Balair is a great airline. The service was very great on all flights. Food was excellent. On the back flight I saw about 15 airplanes from Germany. 3 from Austria and some hot airlines from Russia and Krish Air from Iran, Tarom from Romania and lot Turkish Charter Airliens.

This was a trip report from a Charter airline, but it was really nice, especially the view at Antalya airport.

I was in Antalya 11 years ago and I remember some Istanbul Airlines caravelle and some rebuilding work in the terminal. Has Antalya airport got some jetways or people has to walk to the plane??

Which is the difference between Economy and Business on Balair??

Anyway I hope you had a great holiday!!!

Hi. Yes I spent very nice days in Turkey. The people there were all so friendly, the hotel was so nice and the beach was very nice too.
Antalya aiport has some jetbridges, by the way the airport looks quite new, I mean the main building. But on the back flight they brought us with buses to the plane. It was ok. Most charter fligts were all outside, all russian IL86 were on the bridges.
The difference between Economy and Business Class is not big on Balair. You have also 3 and 3 seating, but the seats were in leather. You can choose between meals and you get free earphones and free alcohol. And you have some centimeters more legroom. Overall, Balair is very nice.

last time i flew to antalya, it was on a THY 737 down from istanbul (see my earlier trip report that this was a part of if interested)...we got to walk across the tarmac into the terminal, which i thought was cool. and the view coming down to antalya, with the mountains, the green plains, the blue oceans, is not to be missed! the coast of turkey from antalya to about bodrum is one of my favorite spots on earth.
