On the 1st August i travelled from Luton to Paphos on AIH621 which was operated by G-DPSP a DC-10-10. Well the aircraft was due to depart at 12.00 but at 11.30 it was announced there would be a small delay and the aircraft would be departing at 12.30. Anyway boarding commenced at 11.50 and we were all bussd out to the aircraft. there were 378 pax plus 4 children. Well the captain came on and said there'd be a small delay as they couldn't shut the door over the right wing. they could either lock the door in which case the slide wouldnt work in an emergency so theyd have to offload passengers or they could try to fit it. They eventually fitted it by which time wed been sitting on the plane for 2 hours. then the captain came over the tanoy that he couldnt get a slot until 16.00. Well we eventually took off at 16.07 after sitting on the plane for 4 hrs. The flight was terrible with no video system working just a moving map and only 4 audio sytems working. One meal was offered 2 hours into the 4.5 hour flight and considering my last meal was at 7 that morning id gone 11 hours without food (we had one cup of coffee during the 4 hours wait). Anyway after the food we saw no more of the crew until an hour before landing when they collected all the meal trays and did a quick duty free service. We landed after a 4 hour flight at 22.00 which equated to a 3.5 hour was then that I overheard the purser telling ground crew at Paphos that the aircraft was going no where that night as if they flew back to the UK theyd be over the 16 hour legal flying time because of the delay. They had to have an 8 hour rest before working again. I checked in the departures hall and the flight had been retimed from 20.00 departure to 06.45 the next day. i felt sorry for the people caught in that delay as theres nothing to do in paphos airport which is very small and hot!!!
After two glorious hot weeks near Polis it was time to return and i was dreading the aircraft coming in late and us being caught up in the same kind of delay that hit the people two weeks previously.i rang Paphos before we left for the airport and the man told us of an hour delay on the flight. Well we turned up at the airport and checked in and then went for a little look aroud the perimeter fence. i saw G-MONS a Monarch A300-605R operating a 19.00 flight to LGW. Also saw to BY 767-300 operating BY500B to LGW and a flight to manchester. Saw two Air 2000 757-200 operating to Birmingham and Newcastle. There were 2 Eurocypria A320-200 to LGW and a Helios 737-800 to LGW. WEll at 18.50 our DC-10-10 this time G-TAOS arrived and pulled up(Itwas onlt 20 mins late which was good)Well boarding commenced at 20.05 and by 20.30 we were all boarded and we took off at 20.43 for our 4 hour flight to Luton. The service on the return was amazing. Fresh rolls being offered with dinner and crew walking through the cabin every 10 minutes or so offering tea, coffee or orange juice. The dinner was very nice and the crew were friendly. we landed on time at Luton at 22.40.
I have to say that the return flight was very good and after that I would consider flying AIH but it would not be may firdt choice. The outbound leg was terrible to make it my first choice. I hope this wasnt too boring , it was only my first trip report and if you have any questions just ask me

AIH used to use 320's on this route.

I went LGW-PFO this year but got a 752 not a 300  Sad

I flew AIH 320 from NCL-MAH and thought the service to be excellent!
Nice report
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!
