My trip started on Thursday October 4th as I flew from Edmonton to Calgary on Air Canada Regional flight 8433 operated by an F28.

I was sat in seat 8A and the interior noise was so loud as we taxied to the runway I had to plug my ears! We departed off runway three zero for the 30 minute flight to Calgary. During the flight the two flight attendants came throught the cabin offering small snacks like cookies or pretzels and your choice of apple or orange juice which is a marked contrast to the service on a British Airways flight of similar length as you'll soon see. I had a couple of hours to kill in Calgary airport so I strolled around and looked at the newly completed renovations and then drooled over the Dragon Wings models in the aviation shop. I then joined the twenty minute line up to go through security and finally got to gate A16 only to find out that the flight was delayed an hour because of a mechanical problem. I had seat 35C on Air Canada 767 300 C-FCAE that still bore the name CANADIAN on the fuselage.

At 2000 flight 3088 pushed back from the gate and taxied out to the runway. The takeoff was to the north and the wheels were up at about 2015. The flight was uneventful and we landed on Heathrow's runway 27 left 8.5 hours later at 1145. We had a long taxi around terminals 1 and 2 to our gate at terminal 3, and when we got there we had to wait for ten minutes as our gate was still occupied. Eventually we disembarked and joined the customs line up. A couple I had seen being very affectionate to one another in Calgary were in front of me in the line and were now quietly arguing, it seemed the girl had forgotten something. I then made my way through the tunnel system to terminal 1 for my flight to Manchester. I caught British Airways flight 1394 which was operated by A320 G-BUSC a wingletless 100 series.

The inflight service was excellent compared to the Air Canada Regional flight hours earlier. We were given a bagged lunch that had a full size sandwich, chocolate bar and bottled water. Then the flight attendants brought out the drinks cart, no apple or orange juice here! We arrived in Manchester at 1430, I deplaned via the rear air stairs and had a good look at the aircraft as I walked into the Terminal.
I left Manchester on October 14th at 1100. Down to London I flew on British Midland flight 587, operated by a Fokker F70.

The flight was an hour late departing because the inbound aircraft was delayed due to fog at Heathrow. I was sat in seat 15C and the interior noise level was alot better than the F28. Like the BA flight the inflight service was excellent, in fact I had a great bacon and chicken sandwich. We landed on Heathrow's runway 27 right at 1145. I collected my bags and went up to the observation deck on top of the Queen's building to watch the aircraft for awhile. Then I made my way over to terminal 3 to check in for Air Canada flight 3097 to Calgary. I was given seat 15B. This flight was also delayed because of a late inbound aircraft. I walked around the terminl and took some photos (which you can see if you email me at email@example.com and I'll send you a link to my album on Ofoto.com), as I was walking around I saw actor John Lovtz! Air Canada 767 300, C-GGBJ, finally pushed back from gate 33 at 1615 and taxied out to runway 27 right. As we waited in line for takeoff we were stopped next to an ex Canadian Airlines DC-10 belonging to Bangladesh Airways, it was still in Canadian colors.

The flight to Calgary was long, nearly nine hours, but good. We had a great view of the city as we flew down wind and then turned right to join the ILS on the North runway. Little did I know as we touched down that Bo Kim, a regular contributor to airliners.net, was taking a photo of us!

We enjoyed the same dismal service as the outbound flight. We arrived on runway 02 at 2045. My trip was over!
