Flight Home, AC8398

Mon Nov 19, 2001 11:53 am

As promised here's the report from my trip home today.

After watching half of the Eskimos-Stampeders game, I left and headed for my condo, then YEG.

I got to the airport at 4:45, entered a near deserted south terminal and headed straight for the express check-in kiosks. I saw that I was in 12E... waaaay to far back for me, so I looked at the seat map to change it. Problem was the furthest forward available seat on the screens was 11B, so I took it. Went to hand in my bag and mentioned about how I liked the machines, but was dissapointed that the plane was so full. He looked it up and said it in fact was not near full, so I got 5C... still an aisle but much further forward. The agent next to mine asked how the game went (I was wearing an Eskimos sweater) and I gave her the brutal truth... we lost big time  Sad Oh well... I was impressed at how pleasant ACs agents have become! I went right to security where the first question was "Who won the game?" I told 'em... oh well... c'est la vie. The checked my CD Player and Palm Pilot and then I was off to Gate 54. When I got there, I saw the mother (Debbie) of a friend of mine from when I was in high school... I sat at chatted with her for a bit, then left to grab a drink. Came back and found out she was sitting in 5E, the window in my group of seats. I decided to keep the aisle... legroom is good...

The flight was about as uneventful as it could get. We left on time and took off from runway 02. Climb was silky smooth... we parked at 29,000 and were in a bit of a headwind... nothing at all like the trip down though. I had a coke and chatted with Debbie the whole way home. Touchdown was at around 6:40... it was off the plane and on my way.
