Swissair ZRH-JFK-GVA-ZRH

Mon Dec 17, 2001 11:25 pm

Today I just came back from a 4 day trip to wonderful and amazing New York. Really, I'm so sad to be again in Switzerland, because New York was amazing and I had so much fun there. I went clubbing and shopping a lot.

My trip started on thursday, 13.12.2001
Swissair Flight SR100, Zürich New York JFK
Departure 12.45, Arrival on time, about 15.30
Airbus A330-200
Seat 39K, Economy Claa

I was flying with a friend of mine, who is working for Swissair. Flight had about 15 min delay, but Boarding was quite quick. At the gate, they wanted to see every passport. The plane was about 85 % full in Economy Class and the first thing was I mentioned was the fact that there were a lot of Jewish people on board who were flying Tel Aviv to New York through Zürich. Someone explained me that is much cheapper to fly Swissair from Israel to New York instead taking a Nonstop flight from Tel Aviv to NY. The crew shemed to be nice and shortly after take off we were given a snack followed by my Screw Driver Drink. After that we could choose between a chicken or a pasta meal. I took the Chicken and it was really tasty and excellent. I drank a sect. There was also a tasty salad and a dessert on the table. They came around with additional bread. Swissair's Airbus A330-200 have PTV in every seat, but the movies were not that interesting to wacht, so I listened music most of the time. Flight Attendants came around with water all the times, but you could easy order other drink and they gave it to you. Also tasty Mövenpick Ice cream was served in the afternoon. Before landing in New York, we were served tasty sandwich, we could choose between ham and cheese. They came around twice with sandwich. Then a cookie was served.
Landing in New York was great. I saw a Lan Chile 767. We went to our hotel (it was the Drake, the Swissotel on 440 Park Avenue) with the Crew bus.

Back flight was yesterday, 16.12.2001. Due the JFK-Zürich flight was full in Economy Class we flow through Geneva and then the Pendul Air Shuttle flight to Zürich.
My seat was 37A, again a window seat. Take off was punctually on 19.50. Security control was OK, I saw Varig Crew members on the airport, which looked a bit strange.... Sorry for saying that, not everyone, but 3 of them looked really crazy. We had a super Swissair crew. Very friendly, although the speak by the Purser was only in English and French. The Copilot made also
his announcements in German. Flight was about 3/4 full, with 3 people in First Class. Food was delicious again (choose between Chicken and Lasagna). I took again the chicken, but although it was not the same meal as on the ZRH-JFK flight, it tastet wonderful. Crew came around with water in the night. Breafast was a little disappointment, because it was the standard cheap Swissair breakfast. Luckily the tasty Croissant were still warm. Once again, the Crew was so nice. Unfortunately Swissair had plastic cutlery for breakfast and all drinks were served in plastic or paper (coffee) glasses.

Swissair Flight from Geneva to Zürich was SR 009, Aircraft was an Airbus A320, my seat was 29A.
Although flying time was only 30 min, the Crew served a drink and a little chocolate to every passenger. I ordered a Coke and like every other passenger I get the whole can. This was very nice and cool. About 11.30 this morning I arrived in Zürich.
I loved this Swissair Flight and I want them use soon again.

Hope you enjoyed it.

I Forgot This

Seat pitch on the Airbus A330 was small, I flow with American this april from Dallas to Zürich and there was the seat pitch amazing and extremly good. Also the cabin and the cabin bags looks much more spacious on a Boeing 777 or a Boeing 747-400. Although the Airbus A330 is a nice plane, I still prefer the Boeing 777 or the Boeing 767, 747-400 for travelling. But definitly I will fly Swissair again, and also the Airbus A330. The A330 is not a bad aircraft, but the 777 is still bettter.

Thank's for your comment. Definitly Swissair is a world class airline and we need them flying, I also accept a new name, but the service must be the same or even better. I think that Swissair is still better than it's european and american competitors.

ya, swissair is great!!!!
I sent my mom on swissair to visit family in switzerland last week from LA. With my experience's their coach is that good, that you dont need business class!!!
Isnt the Zurich-GVA, GVA-Zurich flight always delayed? The seats and service are great still!

Swiss-airplane, did they fly with the cockpit door open on the Zurich- Geneva, or Geneva-Zurich flights? I know they used to, not sure if they still do.

thanks

Hi folks,
thank's again for your comments.
to Elal106: Actually my Swissair flights from this trip were all on time. The Zürich-Geneva flight was 90 % full, and curiously the flights between Zürich and Geneva have a good load factor and they are profitabel. I only know that the Cockpit door on the flight between New York and Geneva was not closing, so they had a open door on the whole flight! And my friend could enjoy the start and the landing on this flight in the Cockpit.
Actually it is true, Swissair's Economy Class service is quite good, I really enjoyed them.
Greets,
mike
